On August 26, 1920, the
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution extended the vote to women - a major victory for women's rights and gender equality. On the anniversary of the
Amendment, Women's Equality Day, we celebrate the progress that has been made toward securing women's full participation in our democracy and renew our commitment to securing equal rights, freedoms, and opportunities for all women.
On August 1, Deputy Mayor Debbie Bertlin declared August 25 Mercer Island Women's Equality Day, in honor of National Women's Equality Day, on August 26! To view the proclamation, click here.
