to confirm if your child has testing. It is important for students to get plenty of rest the night before and eat a nutritious breakfast on days when these assessments take place. Remind your son or daughter to take their time and read each question carefully.
Shaker’s Community celebration on Monday to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was amazing! Thank you to all those who were able to attend and participate in this important and memorable event. It was a great time to bond as members of a community, celebrate our diversity and share in service to others together.
Mercer has a long, successful history of educating the whole child. The Association for Supervision, Curriculum and Development (ASCD) states “ The demands of the 21st century require a new approach to education to fully prepare students for college, career, and citizenship. Research, practice, and common sense confirm that a whole child approach to education will develop and prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow by addressing students' comprehensive needs through the shared responsibility of students, families, schools, and communities.”
In addition to our anchor program, The International Baccalaureate, Mercer offers outstanding programs in art, library, music and physical education. Students begin instruction in Mandarin Chinese language beginning in 1st grade. We continue to enrich education by offering after school programs such as: Cooking Club, the Mercer Play and tutoring Tuesday through Thursday. This combination of during and after school activities helps us to inspire and connect with our students.
