8th grade students are invited to spend one school day at Mercy beginning September 21, 2026. Experience our campus, attend classes, meet teachers and discover the amazing atmosphere at Mercy. A delicious lunch is provided and guests leave with a special Mercy gift. 

You can request a Mercy 9th or 10th grader for your student to spend the day with, or we can pair her with a student based on similar interests. At the end of the day, students will meet with one of our Admissions staff. 

SCHEDULE YOUR SHADOW DAY

Please note we welcome 8th grade students first semester and 7th and 8th grade students in the second semester.

You're invited to discover what it means to be a Mercy girl at our Fall Open House Sunday, November 1, 2026 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Open House is an opportunity for families to tour Mercy High School, meet students and staff, and learn more about the curriculum. Tours generally last an hour and include short presentations made by Mercy's academic departments.

Mercy Alumnae and their families are invited to an early open house legacy tour from 12:30pm - 1:00pm. Please arrive at the Gym/Auditorium entrance located on the North side of the building.

CLASS OF 2031 HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST PREP COURSE

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) Prep Course will focus on preparing 8th graders for the November 7, November 21 and the December 5 placement test. The program includes one 3-hour session. Students can earn better grades, score higher on the HSPT and potentially earn scholarships. They will be more motivated and confident because they will have the tools to succeed.

The course will be facilitated by Mrs. Zena Samona-Ibrahim ’96. Mrs. Ibrahim taught middle school science at Our Lady of Sorrows school, and has been instructing a prep course for the HSPT for over 21 years. The course will focus on helping students acquire greater expertise in reading, verbal, math, and test taking skills. The subjects covered will include: 

• Reading comprehension and vocabulary
• Grammar, usage, and writing skills
• Algebraic operations
• Problem solving
• Time management
• Test taking skills  

The course will cost $100 and will include a copy of "The Peterson’s Master the Catholic High School Entrance Exam." Snacks and water will be provided. Contact Mrs. Zena Samona-Ibrahim for any questions at 248-804-1913 or zsamona@gmail.com.

CLASS OF 2031 HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST

Eighth grade students interested in attending Mercy must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). All students must register online to take the HSPT. Registration will open through the AOD and posted on the Mercy website on September 1. Students have through the Thursday before each test to register or make changes online. Cost of the HSPT is $50.

Financial aid is awarded by the Mercy High School Financial Aid Committee on the basis of financial need as determined by a third party aid and grant assessment and/or special requirements of the named scholarships.
