Mercy
by Father Casey
Out of curiosity, I did a quick search of the word “mercy” in my Bible Concordance this week. The two Hebrew words that are most translated into mercy are racham and hesed and they are central to many of our most beloved verses in the Old Testament:

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8).”

We mourn the unexpected death of Jeffrey Rollings this week. Jeff was a member for decades and a beloved part of the neXtgen community. Lover of animals, champion for justice, and friend to all, Jeff left a mark at Transfiguration and in the world. Funeral arrangements are still to be made, but we invite prayers for his mother Kim, his siblings and their families, and everyone who is grieving the sudden loss of a good friend.
Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May Jeff’s soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory.
