Carter Cox accompanied Ralph Speas on a whirlwind trip to West Africa where they went to observe our new Master Trainers in eight different countries. Titus Davis, our Meridian adjunct faculty member and president of the West Africa Evangelical Free Church joined us in Senegal and accompanied us to six other countries.
Prayers were answered:
All of our visas were approved, the last was approved the week of our departure. We returned safe and sound. We were treated royally by our host, Titus Davis, and aside from a flight cancellation and some delays due to bad roads we had few travel problems.
People were saved:
We saw people saved on the streets, during training, and even saw men trust in Christ on a river bank waiting for a boat. We witnessed a baptismal service and saw the excitement of those who watched, saved and unsaved. The celebration of singing and dancing for joy went on for hours.
Fellowship was great:
We met some of the most godly people, most of them former Muslims. And, we were able to encourage, strengthen, and catalyze these incredible people. We enjoyed the food with the fellowship. The baguettes and crepes in the French-speaking countries were delectable. Carter, Titus, I, the Master Trainers and their Timothys fed off each others' enthusiasm and constant flow of ideas.
The Trainers were Incredible:
It was a pleasure to watch the Master Trainers work with their Timothys who in turn trained their Timothys. What was one training stream a year ago, due to the commitment and hard work of our Master Trainers, there are now eleven training streams with over 450 participating in the year-long training program. One of our Master Trainers, Musa Kpaka, has personally trained over 3,000 pastors with short-term training in the last year.
