Spotlight: SkillsUSA Nebraska Championships
ABC NESD was proud to support the 2025 SkillsUSA Nebraska Championships on April 11 in Grand Island, where over 1,600 students showcased their technical expertise, creativity, and drive for excellence.
Held at the Heartland Events Center and Fonner Park, the event featured 100+ skilled trade competitions in construction, public safety, technology, and more. This hands-on experience highlights the incredible talent emerging in Nebraska and reminds us how essential it is to support and encourage future industry leaders.

Construction Career Day: Building Interest, One Student at a Time
On April 23, ABC NESD participated in the HBAL Annual Construction Career Day at Haymarket Park in Lincoln. More than 320 high school students from Lincoln Public Schools and surrounding areas got a firsthand look at what it means to work in construction—by swinging hammers, operating backhoes, and testing out real tools in a safe, hands-on setting.
These types of immersive experiences are critical in showing young people the exciting, rewarding pathways available in the trades—and ABC NESD is proud to be part of that exposure and inspiration.
