Maine Business, Science & Technology Library (MBSTL)

Welcome to the Maine Business, Science & Technology Library.

As the state's designated research library for business, science and technology, the librarians at Fogler Library have compiled a series of resources to support the people of Maine in those areas. We’ve carefully selected and curated these resources into a variety of subject areas. Each subject area contains links to websites and articles relevant to that field. If you’d like to learn more about why we chose the resources we did, go to our Mission Statement and Selection Criteria page.

Featured Resource: Tide Gauge

In collaboration with the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, UMM's GIS Lab & Service Center have installed an electronic tide gauge at the town landing in Machias. This is an important step in their effort to assess and adapt to climate change vulnerabilities in the downtown area. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation, and through partnerships with the Silver Jackets project and the Machias Resilience Committee. They will be developing signage and outreach materials on sea level rise and climate change in public places around the waterfront.

Here's the link to a website where you can see data from the gauge: https://dashboard.hohonu.io/map-page/3b403eb1-70c7-4633-beec-9bb2e4c21811/Machias,ME-Radar. There are actually two sensors installed, and both appear on the map if you zoom in close. In the next week or two, the data from both sensors will start to appear on the graph together.
