Welcome Meg Colbert, Merrill Library Coordinator!

Margaret (Meg) Colbert has been appointed Merrill Library Coordinator and will begin her tenure on July 29, 2024. In this role, she will oversee all aspects of Merrill Library at the University of Maine at Machias, including access services, reference, instruction, and programming. She will be working closely and reciprocally with Fogler Library to align Merrill’s services with those of Fogler and will advise the Dean of Libraries on Machias procedures, regulations, and needs.

Colbert comes to us from the Eastport Arts Center, where she has held the position of Executive Director for over a year and a half. Prior to this, she spent over five years as Managing Director/Director of Production at Boxart, New York, where she honed her skills in project leadership, personnel management, and strategic planning while managing diverse teams to enhance operational efficiency.

Colbert holds a Master of Science in Information and Library Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo, with a focus on Archives, Special Collections, and Archival Processing/Databases. She also holds an MA in Art History from Hunter College and is interested in bridging the worlds of fine arts and library science. She brings with her a strong enthusiasm for contributing to the unique academic experience at the University of Maine at Machias and Merrill Library.

Franco-American Heritage Month

As July is Franco-American Heritage Month, we are highlighting Fogler Library's Franco-American and Francophonie Resources Guide, which is also available to UMM faculty and staff. Take a look at what's available at Fogler!

Proxy bookmarklet update required

Do you use the proxy bookmarklet on your web browser toolbar, to instantly gain access to library-subscribed resources while searching online? Due to library system changes, the bookmarklet needs to be uninstalled and then reinstalled, in order to continue working. Please reinstall from https://libraries.maine.edu/mariner/proxy.asp

Interlibrary Loans still possible with ILLiad

You may have heard about a disruption to Interlibrary Loan. Due to changes with our statewide delivery system, people are currently unable to make requests for items at

other Maine and UMaine libraries from our online catalog. We're hopeful that the request function in our catalog and delivery will be turned back on soon.

In the meantime, UMM faculty, staff, and students can still use their ILLiad accounts

to request materials not held in our collection. Items will be sent to Fogler Library for in-person pick-up.

Remember that you can also use ILLiad to request digital items like online articles and book chapters that you can download from your ILLiad account.

If you have any questions please reach out to Lindsay Decker <lindsay.decker@maine.edu> or the ILL office 207.581.1671.
