Staying up to date with JPII
Message from Mary Adams, Principal of JPII

I think we can all agree that 2020 was a challenging year. So many things changed, and we were forced to learn a new “normal.” Despite it all, we at JPII have many reasons to give thanks.

Our students and adults did their best to adapt to a different way of learning. Whether it was in-person or virtual, what was clear was how much they all wanted to remain part of the JPII community and participate in activities with their friends.

Our staff went above and beyond, pivoting quickly to virtual learning and then back to a combination of in-person and virtual education. Through it all, what shone the brightest was their dedication to providing the best education experience for their students and adults. It was a challenge, but one that they met head-on. There is no staff who cares more deeply for their students and adults than ours.

Our volunteers continued to be there for us, tending to our gardens, meeting via Zoom and sending us messages of encouragement and support. They checked in on us to make sure we had what we needed as we navigated new territory.

Our donors provided the gifts that ensured that we could continue our mission and be available for our students and adults. We are always grateful for your support, but this year each gift brought on even more significance and importance.

So, as we look forward to a brighter and healthier 2021, we must take a moment to thank everyone who helped JPII over this past year. We are grateful for your ongoing support and belief in our mission, and we look forward to celebrating much more in the coming year.

Christmas
Our Christmas season and program looked a lot different this year, We did our best to keep the mood festive, our students' spirits up and to celebrate the reason for the season.

Our halls were decorated and we all participated in an Advent knowledge contest. We enjoyed Santa hats and other treats donated by local companies and organizations. We collected food and necessities for those who needed it, and we all sang and prayed in our own ways in our individual classrooms.

While this Christmas will be remembered for being unlike any other, we persevered, rejoiced and celebrated together, as part of the JPII family.
So many of us are feeling the void of not being together for JPII’s annual Christmas program. It’s been a tradition for our friends and family to kick off the Christmas season by gathering to enjoy our students sharing their gifts. We hope you enjoy our Virtual Christmas Program Finale that includes performances by our all of our classrooms, including one student who performs virtually from home.

This song was to have been shared at our 2020 Legacy Gala, so it has even more meaning. Kleenex warning: Listen closely to the words; you may want to keep a tissue handy! Click image below!
Adult Staff Decorate Ashley's Tree
Earlier in December, during one of our first snowfalls, the Adult Program staff decorated Ashley's tree for the Christmas season.

This evergreen had been planted and dedicated earlier this fall in memory of Ashley M. Bradley, who had been part of the JPII family for 12 years and had made a positive impact on so many lives.

"Some Christmas tree ornaments do more than glitter and glow, they represent a gift of love given a long time ago." - Tom Baker
Food Pantry Donations

This year JPII students and staff collected items for the Zion Church Food Pantry. Thank you to everyone who donated!
Giving Tuesday Update

Your #GivingJPTuesday donations have added funding for adaptive physical education sessions for our students and adults with All Abilities Fitness Center.

Thank you for your support!
With all the uncertainty surrounding COVID and event planning into 2021, we are taking this time to plan a socially distant Legacy Gala that allows more of our friends to gather and celebrate with JPII.

Since we aren’t quite ready to announce the details yet, our Sponsorship Opportunities mailing is being delayed. We appreciate your patience and ask that you consider keeping JPII in your budget plans as we plan for a 2021 Event that’s sure to be a homerun!
