Our 27th Back-to-School -- With More Alumni!

Our 27th First Day of School in August was wonderful, and we've had a productive first half of the school year! With covid protocols still in place, our faculty, students, and staff are doing a remarkable job again this year to keep each other safe while at school. It's a blessing to all be together!

We are particularly excited to welcome more ‘legacy’ students – children of our alumni -- and have 7 legacy families enrolled this year. We also welcomed two alumnae to our staff: Jessica Prince Jackson ('97) as an aide in 1st Grade and Tara Anderson Wilson ('01) as our front office receptionist. Our Alumni Families helped build STCS into our thriving Catholic school community – it is a joy to have them back in the building!
New Expanded Resource Program
We are thrilled to announce that we began the school year with a brand-new Expanded Resource Program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Principal Mrs. O'Malley jump-started planning for the program in 2018; previously, she helped establish the Expanded Services Program at Bishop O'Connell High School. Ms. Maggie Musacchio was hired to help develop the program and serve as its director, and STCS alumni parent Mrs. Nancy Pizzino serves as an aide. We celebrate the incalculable positive impact these services bring to our entire community, and aim to support families who want all of their children to attend our Catholic school.
The Pandemic Can't Stop STCS Traditions!
The Living Rosary, Weekly Mass, Fall Festival, 5th Grade Veterans Day Program, Christmas Band Concerts, and the Christmas Pageant are just a few beloved STCS traditions. While some of our favorite events look a bit 'different' due to the mask, distancing, and visitor restrictions of the pandemic, our students continue to celebrate all of these special traditions.
Be a Thunder Funder!
This year’s "Focus on Faculty Thunder Appeal" celebrates our wonderful, dedicated faculty and will raise funds to replace their outdated laptops and upgrade technology; provide more opportunities for professional development & classroom needs; and help bridge the gap between the actual cost to educate each student and what we charge in tuition. Read a letter about the Appeal from Mrs. O'Malley here. If you'd like to donate now, click here. Please know that every gift counts, and we are deeply grateful for your support of STCS!
Alumni Spotlight: “Launching College Students into Lifelong Catholic Mission”
The Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) is a Catholic collegiate outreach program whose mission is to share the hope and joy of the Gospel with university students, inspiring and equipping them for a lifetime of Christ-centered evangelization, discipleship, and friendships in which they lead others to do the same. STCS Alumna ’12 Maggie Good and STCS Alumna ’13 Kathryn Karasinski are doing just that. Maggie is a second year missionary at the University of Maryland, and Kathryn is in her first year of mission at the University of Tennessee. If you’d like to hear more about what they do on campus, if you have a student at one of these campuses, or wish to know how you can partner with them in this mission, email them at [email protected] and [email protected].
A Big FOSTS Thank You!
The 11th Annual Friends of St. Theresa School (FOSTS) Golf Tournament for Tuition Assistance was a resounding success! The event is held each year in October at Belmont Country Club to support the FOSTS tuition assistance program. FOSTS was formed in 2006 by St. Theresa School parents to assist families experiencing financial hardship. Over the years, FOSTS has awarded over $305,000 to 223 students. This year's event was a record-breaker, and we were thrilled to welcome back several alumni and alumni parents who golfed, sponsored, and volunteered -- thank you all! Click here to see our tournament Sponsors; we are very grateful for their support. If you would like to learn more about FOSTS, please email [email protected].
Career Day -- Can You Join Us?
Willing to share your career with our students? We will celebrate Career Week at the end of March, with Career Day on Thursday, March 31. We were thrilled to have several alumni and alumni parents at our last event in 2020 -- and we hope you will join us for a morning of fun and learning for our students! Contact Regina Freschi, [email protected] for details.
