Berkley Hills Church has a history of multiplying churches. Recently, they started the "Multiply Network" out of obedience to God's calling to multiply His Kingdom, reaching people in new places with the good news of Jesus Christ. In 2021, the Solon Center Wesleyan Church merged with Berkley Hills to launch Frost Creek Church in Cedar Springs, MI. Shortly after this step of faith, Berkley Hills had an unexpected opportunity for a similar partnership with Knapp Reformed Church, a non-Wesleyan congregation started in 1914.
As Berkley Hills and the Multiply Network explored this potential partnership, they realized that the physical building and the existing congregations' deep desire to reach lost people for Jesus would enable greater efforts to build the kingdom. The Knapp Reformed Church also felt led to merge with the Wesleyan Church. The new church will be called Knapp Valley Church and will be located in the Knapps Corner community of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Church planters John Gorveatte and Isaac Steiner are in the final stages of pre-launch, with a planned launch in early 2025.
To celebrate the launch of this new campus, beautiful handmade nativity scenes were crafted from the former pews in the Knapp Reformed Church building and presented to each family. The scenes were received warmly, and there were tears of gratitude.
