A Year in Review
What a year! I am sure this is not the first time you have read or heard that statement. For the two of us 2020 has been a year to truly be thankful. In the midst of all that is going on, we have seen God’s hand of protection and provision.
We took our third trip to Cambodia in February of 2020, arriving home four weeks before the world shutdown. As much as we love Cambodia we are thankful that we arrived home safely.
We began itinerating in March and are thankful to Pastor Dean Greimann and the Open Bible Church in Swea City, Iowa, and Pastor Dan Carlson and the Hanford Community Church in Mason City, Iowa, for allowing us to share our heart to develop Disciple-makers in the village in Cambodia. We were forced to discontinue our travel and itineration due to COVID-19.
This fall we continued our itineration in Open Bible churches in Central Region. We were blessed by Central Region Executive Director Bruce Pfadenhauer to be a guest at the Fall Pastor’s Retreat. While there we were able to connect with pastors and scheduled dates to share about our ministry.
We want to thank the following churches and pastors who invited us to share about our calling and mission:
  • Rev. Andrew Bates from West Des Moines Open Bible Church

  • Rev. Matt Sanford from Fort Des Moines Church of the Open Bible

  • Rev. Jaccie Kenyon from Church of the Open Bible

  • Rev. Chad Cummings from Jefferson Gospel of the Open Bible Church

  • Rev. Gary Smith from Liberty Life Center

  • Rev. Josh Gerard from New Beginnings

  • Rev. Marvin Lumbard from Community Chapel
We also want to thank Pastor Somkong Vong and the Lifesong Open Bible Church in Des Moines, Iowa. We are thankful for the relationship we have developed over the past year with them and for allowing us to share our heart and call for Cambodia.
A special thank you to our pastor, Spencer Keroff and home church First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines, Iowa. Pastor Keroff recognized our heart for missions and encouraged us to be obedient and pursue being part of the Global Missions Family.

Finally, we thank Global Missions Executive Director Vince McCarty and the Global Missions Board for believing in us and allowing us the opportunity to pursue this path God has called us to travel.
We pray that the joy and hope this season brings will flood your hearts and lives. To all who have and continue to support us with your prayers and finances - THANK YOU!

We would love to share with you and your church about the work God has called us to and to enlist your prayer support as we follow our calling. Please contact us via email at cox@openbible.org.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Cambodia and her people had captured our hearts. We saw the hunger of so many people who wanted to know more about Jesus. We have been called to proclaim the Gospel, develop disciple-makers, and train future leaders for church plants in Cambodia.

National missionaries Ly and Sarin Mak have established a refuge in Cambodia where the village children flock to for pre-school, English classes, and most importantly to hear the Good News about Jesus and His love for them.
Over the last several years Ly and Sarin and the Lifesong Learning Center have hosted a Christmas Celebration for the village children. This celebration has grown exponentially.  In December of 2019 it is estimated that nearly 1,000, mostly children, were in attendance for the Christmas Celebration.  During this celebration children receive a new school uniform, small gifts and lunch.  Most importantly they are told about the birth of Jesus, God’s Son.  The Gospel is shared and for the first time many hear of Jesus’ love and the hope that is found in following Jesus.
