Dear friends:
Today is Christmas Eve, and those of us who practice the Christian faith are preparing to celebrate once again the birth of Jesus. Even in the midst of a pandemic, from the safety of our homes, many of us will light candles and celebrate the gifts of love and light.
Those who practice Judaism have recently celebrated eight days of Hanukkah, lighting candles on the menorah and giving thanks for God's faithfulness and provision.
And just a few days ago we observed the Winter Solstice. Slowly, slowly, the days are getting longer.
As this challenging year comes to a close and a new year approaches, let’s give thanks for the gifts of love and light. Let's stay open to every opportunity to embody those gifts in the midst of a broken and hurting world. And let's pray for a brighter, more hopeful new year.
However you mark these sacred days, however you are celebrating, may the God of Love fill you with joy and peace, and may you savor every small blessing, every sign of light, every gift of love.
Blessings to you,
