**BREAKING SOLAR NEWS**

On December 15th, the new NEM 3.0 solar program was approved. This means a significant drop in the reimbursement rate for PG&E solar customers. NEM 3.0 goes into effect April 15, 2023. As we are expecting significant demand increase in the next few months,

it is important to install solar now!

PG & E: Keep your lights on using your EV

Through new bidirectional charger technology, your vehicle becomes a battery, storing electricity that can be used for your property in times of need and can provide savings on your electric bill. PG&E’s Vehicle to Everything (V2X) pilots offer incentives to help customers access this technology when available in early 2023.

• Power your property temporarily when there is an electrical outage
• Charge your vehicle during times when electricity is less expensive and use vehicle power when it’s more expensive (4pm-9pm)
• Earn additional incentives by sending electricity to the grid during times of high demand

We take a lot of pride in offering quality solar products and customizing systems so our customers get just what they need, aka don't spend more than needed. We value honesty and transparency, but we understand that it can be hard to understand your solar benefits where there are so many "to-good-to-be-true" ads out there. If you're still shopping for solar, here are some tips to understand claims about getting solar.

• CLAIM: Your energy bill will disappear!
• If a salesperson says your electricity bill will disappear after installing solar and that you can kick your utility to the curb, that could also be an exaggeration. Your bill will vary depending on your net metering agreement with your utility, your electricity usage and the base rate utility customers pay to keep up grid infrastructure. Solar panels installed and operating correctly will reduce the electricity you use and can save you a bunch of money, but the effect on your bill will vary.
• CLAIM: Your energy company will pay YOU!
• Be sure you understand how your utility compensates you for the electricity you produce before going solar. These rates are not necessarily set in stone. In California, regulators are trying to change net metering in the state, though proposals so far have included provisions to keep established customers on their previously agreed to net metering rates. 
• CLAIM: Install solar panels for free!
• If you see ads that claim you can put solar panels on your house for free, make sure you understand what "free" means. Likely, it means the product advertised is likely either a power purchase agreement or lease. While this means you don't pay a large upfront cost for the panels, you will pay monthly to the company that owns them. These are legitimate services and part of the reason residential solar has exploded in the last decade. You're likely to save more money overall with a purchase than with a lease or PPA.

When you get quotes, be sure all your questions are answered. Never let pressure rush you into signing before you're ready. If you'd like a quote from us, call us or schedule an estimate on our website.
