My dear friends and clients...
I
want to wish you the happiest of holidays and a healthy and prosperous new year. 2017 is around the corner. Can you believe it? My gosh, where does the time go? Early December brings so many wonderful activities to our little village. I hope you will be able to catch "Elf, the Musical" and "A White Christmas" Play and Concert at the Bigfork Playhouse. Another fun activity is "Brushes and Brews" at Flathead Lake Brewery. I particularly enjoy sharing holiday cheer dining with clients and friends in our many quality restaurants.
The Market: There is an enlightening report in the Flathead Beacon that suggests that "the best time to have your home on the market is during the fall when many listings are expiring. If you really want to sell, then plan to put up with the hassle of having it on the market during the holiday season." Read online here. I'm happy to list your home now. Let's try it out!.
Talking about real estate...the proposed changes that are looming at the Federal level will be keeping me on my toes and that's a good thing...all the more reason to hire an experienced Realtor. That 's me! Ten years as a mortgage broker during the bubble and bust in the 80s and early 90s gave me a valuable edge for understanding fast changes that lie ahead of us. Speaking of changes, here are some predictions for 2017 from Realtor Magazine.
- Home prices are expected to rise 3.9 percent nationwide.
- Existing-home sales are predicted to increase 1.9 percent to 5.46 million homes in 2017.
- Mortgage rates are forecasted to reach 4.5 percent, rising above the 3.5 percent averages seen for most of 2016.
- The home ownership rate is expected to stabilize at 63.5 percent, after bottoming out at 62.9 percent in 2016.
- New-home sales are expected to increase 10 percent while new home starts are predicted to rise 3 percent.
