Dear Families,

The safety, good health, and well-being of our community members is our top priority. We are committed to keeping the MPH community well-informed of the most current information regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its implications to our operations. While there are competing philosophies regarding school closings, we believe at this moment – in the absence of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the MPH community and in Onondaga County – that MPH can remain open at this time. Acknowledging there are uncertainties as we navigate our way forward, we continue to monitor information about COVID-19 locally, nationally, and globally. To support the timely dissemination of pertinent information, MPH has created a dedicated COVID-19 Updates and Information webpage , which will be updated regularly with any new developments that impact our school and community members.

Below are some of the relevant updates:
  • In addition to ongoing conversations among members of our Administrative Team, we regularly stay connected to our regional and national associations, neighboring schools, and leading health experts.
  • As of today, school remains open, mindful that circumstances are fluid and evolving.
  • Our decisions moving forward will be guided by the recommendations of the CDC, New York State Department of Health, and local public health authorities.
  • Regarding our attendance policy, we will work with all families to be as accommodating as possible.
  • Our teachers are developing contingency plans, which include implementing distance learning should the school need to close for an extended period.
  • We have postponed the Spring Break trip to Spain and France. We are evaluating the annual eighth-grade trip to Washington, DC; a decision on this trip will be coming soon.
  • As of today, on-campus activities, such as athletics, performing arts, and local field trips, will continue as scheduled until further notice.
  • As a reminder, please keep sick children at home.

We encourage you to frequently check our COVID-19 Updates and Information webpage for the most current information. Please contact me if you have questions or concerns. Thank you for your partnership.
