Dear Parents,

In the spirit of open communication and keeping you up-to-date as we navigate through these weeks ahead, I wanted to reach out with an update.

First, let me thank you for your support as we have embarked on this new, online education system. The resiliency of our faculty, staff and students is admirable and we are grateful for everyone’s willingness to work together. Our faculty has taken on the challenge of online instruction and they are to be commended for their extensive work these last days to prepare. There is a certain comfort in being positive for our students and we look forward to once again filling our hallways with the joyful sound of their voices!

One of our main focuses during these two weeks is ensuring that the building receives a deep clean to protect our community upon their return to school. We have scheduled an electrostatic cleaning with a local company as have other schools in the area. This process, along with our continued efforts to clean and maintain the building daily, is a priority along with continuing your child’s education.

The Archdiocese has launched a special Coronavirus Task Force led by Bishop Fitzgerald. The task force is meeting daily. Their communications are available here:  Coronavirus Update ( https://aopcatholicschools.org/covid-19-information/ .)

As we continue to keep the lines of communication open, I want to ensure that everyone will receive timely information from us as these weeks progress. We are evaluating the situation with the guidance of our Archdiocese as well as with recommendations from the national, state and regional levels. It is our goal to continue to be flexible and understanding as things evolve and we appreciate how, together, we can refrain from conjecture and rumors as to when school events will be rescheduled. Please know that our administrative team continues to meet to discuss these issues and to plan ahead for a variety of scenarios.

Lastly, as always, I leave you with my cell phone number: (267) 535-0776. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me by email or cell if you have questions or if I can be of assistance.

Our namesake, Cardinal O’Hara had a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother. As you may know, our school seal contains the Latin phrase “Ipsam sequens, non devias” which translates to “Following her you will not go astray.” It is in these times that I encourage you to pray to our Blessed Mother. May God bless you and your families during this time!

Sincerely,

Jay DeFruscio
President
