Dear Y Member,

I hope this message finds you well, safe and healthy. During this unforeseen, challenging and constantly evolving time, I wanted to reach out and share some thoughts with you.

I recognize, that these uncertain times and long stretches of social distancing can be very difficult. This is especially true for those of you who visit the Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA daily, who define the Y as your second home, who look to it as your place not only for exercise, but also as your place of important social interaction and human connection.

At this time, we are also thinking of our staff, who play an integral role for the Y. It’s thanks to their daily commitment and dedication that we can operate and assist our numerous members. We are doing everything possible to take care of them, to ensure their safety while safeguarding their roles.

We are a strong, tightly knit community and I want to assure you that you are not alone. Our facility may be temporarily closed, but we remain available. We are here to serve and support you. I encourage you to reach out to our staff by email at They are ready to help answer any questions, concerns or provide you with information.

As you know, the Y is a non-profit organization that has been part of our community for over 100 years. Your membership dues and fees support and are required for us to run the crucial programs and services we offer, especially to those most vulnerable in our community. Now, more than ever, we need your support to help sustain the Y through these challenging times so that we can continue to be place where everyone belongs and is welcomed in our community.

To ensure that we help you stay active, we have already started sharing basic workout programs that you can follow from the comfort of your home. These can be found on our social media platforms and on our web site. We will continue to provide new workouts in the coming days and all through our closure.

Our Youth and Family Engagement director is also working with her staff to provide support content and online workshops that we will soon share with you.

In the meantime, we have already started deep cleaning our fitness facility, all of our equipment and the entire building. You can be sure that once we reopen our doors, you’ll step foot into a clean and safe environment.

Together we can safeguard our commitment ensure that the Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA continues to serve our community.

We will stay in touch and provide regular updates through email blasts, on our Facebook page and our Instagram account.

I thank you in advance for you continued support and patience as we work through this difficult time and like you, look forward to getting back to “life as usual” as soon as possible.
