Update from Dr. Goddard - March 18, 2020
Video Transcript - Highlights

In an effort to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in our community, Lovejoy ISD will follow advice from local, state and national authorities to extend the suspension of normal district operations and in-person classes through Friday, April 3rd.

As developments concerning COVID-19 (Coronavirus) continue to evolve, please know the district will continue to assess the need for further closure beyond April 3rd.

We continue to work with local health officials and surrounding school districts. During the time schools are closed for in-person instruction, Lovejoy ISD will provide remote learning experiences for all of our students, PK-12. We are being very thoughtful and purposeful around how we push out at-home learning and being sensitive to families and what is going on during this unprecedented time.

This week, you will be receiving communication from your campus Principal to make sure we are meeting your needs regarding technology, meals and any additional areas in which we can support. We are being very thoughtful in our approach to at-home learning and ensuring our parents and students have what they need to be successful.

Tomorrow, we will launch our Leaping Into @Home Learning site which will serve as a central location for information and resources for our families, students, and teachers and provide additional information about what at-home learning will look like. Next week, primarily will be off-line learning while we ensure our teachers, principals and parents have a chance to connect, and address any needs families may have.

Please know you are loved. We especially feel for our Seniors right now and the fact that many of their milestone events may be postponed. We will continue to monitor all planned activities and will be reaching out to our Senior families next week.

We are aware that unexpected and prolonged school closures create hardships for our students and families. Please know, these difficult decisions are being made in the best interest of our Lovejoy ISD community and we appreciate your continued support during these uncertain times.

We will continue to stay connected with you through our multiple communication channels and ask that you visit our Health Information website for the most current and accurate information.
