Dear Ohio-ACC Colleague,
It is hard to believe that my three-year tenure as Ohio-ACC President/Governor will come to an end on March 12. As I look back over the past three years, the Ohio Chapter of the ACC has made great strides in advocacy and membership engagement. We have steadily continued to engage our cardiologists, CVT members, and FITs at our chapter meetings. Our member participation has been outstanding at our Ohio-ACC Legislative Day in Columbus, and we have had members testify before the State Legislature on behalf of Ohio-ACC. We have collaborated with the OSMA and AHA and had advocacy successes with the passage of important legislation, including prior authorization reform, high school CPR graduation requirements, training of coaches/parents regarding SCD, etc. In recognition of these tremendous efforts, our state has received the national
ACC Chapter Recognition Award for Achievement in Advocacy the last two years in a row, and in 2016 I received the inaugural national
ACC Excellence in Advocacy Award.
These successes could not have been accomplished without the team effort of Ohio-ACC members. I would like to thank each one of the Board Members, Past-Presidents, and volunteers who have contributed their time and efforts to the Ohio-ACC.

We truly appreciate your dedication to the Ohio-ACC. As Chapter President, I have had the pleasure of working with cardiologists, cardiovascular team members, and FITs across the state. I am grateful for the knowledge and friendship you have all shared with me. One of the most important contributors to the success of our chapter is Gwen Goldfarb, our chapter executive. All of our success in educational and advocacy initiatives as well as the day to day chapter operations could not be achieved without Gwen. If you are interested in getting more involved in the Chapter, please reach out to Gwen.
On March 12,
Sanjay Gandhi, MD, MBA, FACC, an interventional cardiologist at MetroHealth in Cleveland, will take over as Ohio-ACC President/Governor. He will be an excellent leader and has terrific ideas to further advance the mission of Ohio-ACC.
Please feel free to contact me at laxmi.mehta@osumc.edu.
Sincerely,
Laxmi S. Mehta, MD, FACC
President
