Dear Levine Families,

To help us plan for the new school year beginning on Monday, August 17, we are providing our families with an important survey. The main aim of this survey is to obtain feedback on our springtime distance learning, in addition to knowing family intentions for the upcoming school year. Deadline for survey submission will be Friday, July 10th

This summer, while both our summer camps have been operating with numerous health and safety measures in place (you can view our current protocols here), our leadership team has been busy exploring all factors that will help make for a successful and safe 2020/2021 school year.

Our work has been organized within the following Think Tanks:
  • Protocols, Procedures, Campus & Environment- considering additional protective measures; lunch strategy; classroom reconfigurations; outdoor strategies; air quality details.
  • Health & Wellness-researching best health practices; emotional health issues; useful information for our COVID FAQ's;
  • Creative Connectivity-enhancements and greater effectiveness with online learning; improving communication with parents; safe and creative ways to strengthen our sense of community.
  • School Scenarios-blended learning and online instructional strategies; policies on gatherings & visitors; alternatives to major events, and more.
Key decisions: Our intention is to bring everyone back to campus to begin the new school year on Monday, August 17, for all school divisions. We will keep to the full school calendar as originally published. We will begin the school year with a very restrictive policy regarding access for parents and visitors-there will be no visitors or parents allowed inside the building. We will also be converting our large gathering occasions, such as our prayer services and Friday Shabbats, to much smaller groupings. Like we are doing during our summer camps, all adults are wearing masks; students from K on up are expected to wear masks where feasible; screening of everyone entering the building is taking place daily.

Of course, we will have more to report as our Think Tanks continue their work and factor in feedback from this Parent Survey. Our ethos is this: by working together, home and school, we will emerge a better school and a stronger community.

We look forward to keeping you informed about the upcoming school year, and in the meantime if you have and questions or suggestions, please let us know. As always, thank you for your commitment to Levine Academy.

All my best,

Tom Elieff
