The Vuong Family
Lovejoy students,
Jonah Vuong
(8th grade) and
Amelie Vuong
(7th grade), and their family are making the most of their time in quarantine while helping our One Heart. One Lovejoy. community and beyond!
The Vuong family started making masks after Spring Break when they learned there was a shortage of PPEs for HCPs. They sent free masks out daily, via porch pickups and USPS shipments. They did not want to decline any requests, so they reached out on social media to encourage friends to make masks and share.
The Vuong family also partnered with the Lovejoy Community for this project! The generous families in the Lovejoy community and beyond have been dropping off materials, sending monetary donations to help with shipping costs, volunteering to pick up and deliver masks to HCPs, and even buying the Vuong family meals!
To date, the Vuong family has made around 500 masks to share, and they don't plan on stopping! Together with other mask makers, they have sent thousands of masks to hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, hospice facilities, nursing homes, and almost anyone who has asked. This week they started posting on Nextdoor to share with neighborhoods around the community. Most masks are free and will continue to be free for as long as the Vuong family can manage to do so.
The COVID-19 has been a challenging time for all. However, the Vuong family shared that it has brought them the ability to make a positive impact and has allowed them to be more grateful, humble, and helpful. Now, more than ever, the Vuong family has felt and appreciated the community's support.
The Vuong family would love to continue to serve the Lovejoy community during this time. To request FREE masks, please send them a private message on FB/IG @boodabeads. They are happy to arrange pickup, delivery (within a short distance), or even ship for free.
A limited number of custom masks can also be purchased via their Etsy shop
https://www.etsy.com/shop/BooDaBeads
. All proceeds will go towards free masks to give back to the community.
We are thankful and Lovejoy proud of the Vuong Family!
