Dear Wonderful Lovejoy Community:
When our students look back on this time, what will they say? I hope that they remember this time as an opportunity to make memories with their families, friends and teachers through connections never seen before in our lifetime. I hope that you will remember this time in the same way. May this long weekend be a continuation of leveraging connections and making precious memories with your family.

Let's continue to lift up our One Heart. One Lovejoy. community.

Lovejoy ISD has been honored with the “Best Communities for Music Education” designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

The “Best Communities for Music Education” designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

“We are extremely thankful to our Board of Trustees, administrators, teachers, parents, and community for their continued support in providing programs of excellence for our Lovejoy students,” states Dr. Michael Goddard, Superintendent. “Thank you to the NAMM Foundation for recognizing our music program and our district’s commitment to ensuring our students with opportunities beyond the classroom to excel.”

Lovejoy ISD is one of 754 school districts nationwide to be recognized.

“This accolade is an incredible honor recognizing the vision, dedication, and commitment that each of our music educators pours into their students, programs, and ensembles. I am so proud of this acknowledgment for our district and our community.”, states Fela Mathy, Director of Fine Arts.

The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its approximately 10,400 members around the world. The foundation advances active participation in music-making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs. School Closure Grading Guidelines
COVID 19’s impact on our community has required us to change our process for progress monitoring.

The Lovejoy ISD School Closure Grading Guidelines linked below will be followed during the portion of time schools are closed during this 2019-2020 spring semester.

College Board Announces Changes to the Annual Administration of AP Exams
Lovejoy ISD students enrolled in AP courses take the AP Exam. AP Exams are the summative assessment of student learning in each AP course. Exams range from 90 minutes to 3 hours in length and consist of multiple choice and free response questions (FRQs) or performance- based tasks.

The closure of schools across the nation due to COVID-19 necessitated a change to this year’s administration of exams. The AP Program surveyed over 18,000 students, and 91% indicated they want to take the AP Exams.

Therefore, the College Board is creating an at-home test for students. It will consist of one 45-minute free response question. Additionally, the content over which students may be tested has been reduced to approximately the first 75% of material from the course. The College Board is also providing review sessions and additional instructional materials to support students and teachers.

A master list of all LHS exam information is available on the Lovejoy ISD Leaping into @Home Learning website. The list of adjustments (by course) is also available on the College Board’s website- https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/coronavirus-update

We know that with any change, there is uncertainty. As we adjust instructional models, be assured that your student is well prepared to be successful on this year’s AP exam. Teachers have provided students with excellent instruction and preparation strategies during the year, and will continue to do so throughout our time of @Home Learning.

We recognize that COVID-19 may impact families in many ways. Families facing significant financial hardship may apply for an AP Exam exception by completing this form by Friday, April 17.
