Dear Wonderful Lovejoy Community,

December is off to a great start. Our Leopards returned from the Thanksgiving Break with excitement and are ready to finish 2020 strong!

I continue to be amazed by our teachers, coaches, staff and guest educators (substitutes) who continue to find new and creative ways to connect with our students virtually, face to face and through their extra-curricular pursuits. This dedication and passion is what truly makes Lovejoy ISD so special!

This week the Foundation for Lovejoy Schools conducted their Prize Patrol awarding some of our teachers with their classroom grant requests. We can't thank our community enough for their support of our teachers and our students. This year, more than ever, our teachers appreciate your continued support and generosity! We are #OneHeartOneLovejoy!

Athletics & Fine Arts Travel
Due to COVID-19, our current practice is to prohibit discretionary overnight travel for optional sports and fine arts competitions. UIL sanctioned playoff, or state-level competitions are not discretionary events as they require the team to participate or forfeit, ending the season. Therefore, when required for UIL playoff or state-level competitions, overnight travel may be permitted for students directly participating in these events.

Overnight travel accommodations will follow UIL, TEA, and CDC guidelines. Participating students will also have the option to room with their immediate family if staying on-site at the same hotel.

Due to the evolving nature of COVID-19, guidelines for overnight travel may change in the spring.
Fee Based Transportation Service Requests
Lovejoy ISD families needing bus service may submit a request through an online application process. If you have previously requested service, you do not need to complete this application again. All requests will remain on the waitlist until service is provided or you request to be removed from the waitlist.

The Transportation Department will contact each requester to discuss possible options on existing routes. These options may include meeting the bus at existing stops, shuttling Sloan Creek students to an elementary school, or shuttling Willow Springs students to LHS. Those families on the waitlist will continue to be evaluated geographically regarding the feasibility of adding future bus routes based on rider participation. Once service is provided, a fee of $175.00 per approved rider, per semester, will be charged for bus service or shuttle service.

Should you have any questions, please contact the Transportation team at [email protected].

Help Us Keep our Leopards Healthy
Most of the COVID cases we are seeing in the district are occurring outside the school day. We are hopeful that with our community's help and vigilance, we are able to keep our Leopards healthy and safe and keep our case count under the 10% campus closure threshold!

If your student is not feeling well or exhibiting any COVID related symptoms, please help us keep all of our Leopards safe by keeping your student home and contact your campus to discuss virtual learning options.
