Dear Wonderful Lovejoy Community,
|
|
I am reminded of what makes our district so unique and special; We Live Lovejoy.
Living Lovejoy is not a slogan; it is a collective commitment throughout our great community of caring, connection, continuous improvement, and ensuring kids come first in all we do.
As we head into a three day weekend, I want to thank you all for your continued support of our entire Lovejoy community.
I am proud and honored to be a Leopard!

As a One Heart. One Lovejoy. community, we have had several families inquire about how they can show their support for the McTee family.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the McTee family has asked that you consider making a donation in Bethany’s McTee's name to the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Medical Center Dallas by clicking the link below. Please indicate that your donation is “in memory of Bethany McTee.” Thank you for honoring Bethany’s life by donating to save the lives of others.

Advanced Academic Recognition Ceremony
|
|
On Thursday night, we had the opportunity to celebrate 328 unique Advanced Academic Scholars and their families on the outstanding academic achievements of each of these scholars!
Our keynote speaker for the evening was Jaret "Mac" Karnuta, a current fourth-year medical student applying for an orthopedic surgical residency. He was born in Maryland, lived in England for several years, and eventually landed at Lovejoy Elementary School in the second grade. Mac was part of the 2012 graduating class at Lovejoy High School and fondly remembers his science classes with Mr. Taylor and Ms. Dollinger, among others. He thanks Lovejoy for developing his interest in orthopedics as he worked with a local orthopedic surgeon through an independent study course in high school. At Lovejoy, he developed his love of science and problem-solving. After Lovejoy, he attended Duke University, where he received a B.S. in Chemistry with distinction and minored in biology. He now attends the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine on a full-tuition scholarship.

Lovejoy ISD is dedicated to ensuring all parents and students are informed about school delays or closings due to inclement weather. The district utilizes a number of resources to notify individuals about school delays or closings, including several radio and television stations. While we recognize that all parents will not be reached through a single information source, our hope is that collectively we can provide ample avenues to obtain timely information.
