Mrs. Moody and Mr. Cooper will represent Lovejoy ISD at the Region 10 ESC Teacher of the Year competition. Recipients of the Region 10 ESC Teacher of the Year Awards will move onto the Texas Teacher of the Year competition sponsored by the Texas Association of School Administrators.
Mrs. Moody and Mr. Cooper were awarded with a Sewell Teacher of the Year Package to include:

Director of Human Resources Recruitment and Development Dr. Kent Messer and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dennis Muizers presented Chapter 21 Contracts (for professional employees required to hold State Board of Education Certification and employees specified in policy
DCB(LOCAL)) and Non-Chapter 21 Employment Agreements (for professional employees not required to hold State Board of Education Certification) for the 2020-2021 school year. Assistant Superintendent of Operations Dr. Dennis Womack presented a TEA Waiver for Missed School Days. For school closures based on COVID-19 related concerns the District must seek additional minute waivers from TEA in order to meet the 75,600 operational minute requirement. Districts must apply for a Missed School Day waiver for each day they are closed for COVID-19. These waivers will be granted as long as Districts are supporting students instructionally while at home. The Board of Trustees approved the TEA Waiver for Missed School Days. Details may be found

Chief Financial Officer Shay Adams presented consideration of a June 1, 2020 Budget Workshop. The Board of Trustees approved June 1, 2020 at 6:00 PM as a Budget Workshop.
Chief Financial Officer Shay Adams presented consideration of a June date for a Public Hearing on the 2020-2021 Budget. The Board of Trustees approved moving the regular June Board meeting date from June 15, 2020 to June 22, 2020. The June 22, 2020 regular meeting was also approved as the date for the Public Hearing on the 2020-2021 Budget.

Closed Session is a time where limited issues such as personnel actions may be discussed. No votes are taken in Closed Session. The Board did not meet in Closed Session during the May Board Meeting.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Goddard announced the first Lovejoy High School alumnus to sign with the National Football League is Aaron Fuller, Class of 2016. Aaron signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
Board President Chad Collins reminded the Board of continuing education training available through TASB.
