Dear Wonderful Lovejoy Community:
As we continue through this time of growth and stretching, I know that many of us truly appreciate some of the things we once took for granted. I hope you will continue to stretch, celebrate, and appreciate those things that mean the most to you and your family!

LJVA Award Winners - 2020 Young American Talent Exhibition

Please congratulate our Lovejoy Visual Artists for being selected to exhibit in the 2020 Young American Talent art competition and exhibition. This regional high school art competition is organized by the Visual Arts Guild of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts & H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College as a celebration and exhibition of the highest caliber of high school visual art in the DFW area for the past 29 years. Of the 65 North Texas schools and 1120 student submissions, 130 works were selected for the exhibit.

Of the 9 Lovejoy artworks selected for the exhibit, 6 won awards! We are incredibly proud of all LJVA students that were selected for this honor, and applaud the 6 LJVA artists that were awarded as exemplars in their media category. Please check out the LJVA Instagram (@lovejoyvisualart) to see these works and hear more about the planning, process, and content behind all of our incredible artists' work.

LHS Student Council has earned Recognition as
TASC Sweepstakes Council

The Lovejoy High Student Council earned recognition as a Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Sweepstakes Council. This is the highest honor a TASC council can achieve, In addition, they were also recognized as an Outstanding Student Council.

Sweepstakes Councils must earn recognition in the areas of Pride and Patriotism, Energy and Environment, and Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health, as well as School & Community service. Only exceptional councils earn this honor, and help set the bar to which other councils should aspire. This achievement serves as a benchmark for what a well-rounded student council in Texas should do to be effective. This is truly a significant accomplishment and is a testament of the hard work Student Council does each year.

NCAA Senior Signing Day

Save the Date - May 22nd
Late Night Leopard Campouts have been a great opportunity for our elementary community to come together for a night of fellowship!

With this year's current health situation, we wanted to still provide our One Heart. One Lovejoy. community the opportunity to connect virtually and extend an invitation to all of our Lovejoy families to join us!

On Friday, May 22nd, Lovejoy ISD will be hosting a virtual campout for our entire One Heart. One Lovejoy. community. We encourage all of our families to join us from their backyards or their living rooms for this virtual night of fun from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm.

A wide range activities will be offered virtually as a part of the campout and will have several students as well as a few surprise guests joining us! Throughout the evening, families will have a chance to participate in social media challenges, support many of the amazing companies/ vendors that have supported Lovejoy ISD, and have a lot of fun along the way!

We hope you will mark your calendar and join us for One Night Under the Stars! More information will be coming soon.
Celebrating Our Seniors
We are excited to provide our community graduation information and some fun ways you can help support the Class of 2020!

Graduation Celebration

We will be honoring our seniors at a Graduation Celebration on Saturday, May 30th, at 10:00 AM. Each senior has been invited to dress in their Cap and Gown, decorate their car, and report to the LHS student parking that morning. Parents and sibling are encouraged to ride in the car with their graduate. Each graduate will drive across the front driveway of the high school where their names will be announced via speaker system. The seniors will receive their diploma and embark on a parade route that runs through a few LISD neighborhoods as well as each LISD campus. Teachers will be parked at each campus and encouraged to decorated vehicles, and make signage to support our graduates.

We will also share the route with our community so yard signs can be made and everyone can cheer from their front yard, or park a car along the parade route to honk for our graduates.

If restrictions allow, we will also be planning a more traditional ceremony on July 25th at the LHS Football Field for graduates and their immediate families.

Adopt a 2020 Lovejoy Senior

We need the entire Lovejoy community to get involved!
Please consider joining the Adopt a 2020 Lovejoy Senior FaceBook group.
Family and Friends of our seniors post a small bio and some pictures, and the Lovejoy community has an opportunity to adopt one of the Seniors and bless them with goodies!  So far over 175 Seniors have been adopted!!

If you or your senior are not on FaceBook, please contact , or have a friend post for you. This is a small way to encourage our seniors as they cope with the disappointment of missing out on some important milestones.
Community Connections
We are excited to offer a new social media challenge that will replace our spirit days and carry us through the remainder of our school year! As you complete the activities, please share them out on social media use #OneHeartOneLovejoy.

Once you get a blackout, make sure to post your card and tag us! We will be sharing a special treat for those Lovejoy families!
One Heart. One Lovejoy.
We want to wish all of our Lovejoy Moms a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
