Dear Wonderful Lovejoy Community:
Lovejoy ISD takes the safety and security of our students, staff and community very seriously. An open line of communication is a priority for us and includes any potential incidents and interventions.
Early this morning (prior to school), Willow Springs Middle School Principal, Dr. Kent Messer, was made aware of a social media posting from a middle school student which presented a threatening message directed at schools. The student and family were immediately contacted and met with regarding the posting. An immediate intervention was conducted with the school administrators, school marshals, counselors and the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
Appropriate steps were made to eliminate any possibility of threat, process the resulting consequences and ensure the safety and security of all students. Due to the swift actions of the administration and school marshals, the students and staff at Willow Springs Middle School were in no danger from this threat.
Lovejoy ISD will not tolerate any threatening messages, postings, or comments. Working with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement, appropriate charges will be pressed regarding any threats, and we will continue to make the safety and security of our students, staff and community a priority.
As always, please continue to have conversations with your children regarding what they text or post online. Please see below for information regarding the Safe Schools Alert reporting systems.
