This e-mail outlines important information regarding plans for our students who receive special education services. We are dedicated to the continuation of learning and supporting your children during this difficult and uncertain time.
Special Education Instruction and Related Services (Physical and Occupational Therapy, Counseling, Speech/Language Therapy, Vision and Hearing Services and Behavioral Supports):
Our Special Educators and Related Service Providers have prepared packets and/or access to online resources that have been individualized to address your child's needs and IEP goals. Teachers and Service Providers will contact you and/or your child by Wednesday, March 18th.
Facilitation of CPSE/CSE/504 meetings:
All meetings that were scheduled to take place on Monday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 17th have been CANCELLED, and will be rescheduled. All meetings that are scheduled to take place Wednesday, March 18 up to and including Friday, March 20 WILL TAKE PLACE as scheduled via teleconference. Should the district experience an extended closure beyond March 20th, we will continue to hold meetings as scheduled via teleconference.
Home Based Services for students classified under the CSE:
In the interest of the health and safety of our students, families and contracted service providers, all direct home-based services are CANCELLED while the Roslyn School District is closed.
Out of District Placement (CSE recommendations):
Although the Roslyn School District is closed during the week of March 16-March 20, we will continue to provide transportation for our students who attend special education programs that were recommended by the CSE, as long as that individual school remains open and is permitting Roslyn students to attend.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the transportation department at (516) 801-5190.
Students who attend center-based programs will follow directives regarding closures
from the individual preschool program. Related Service Providers will notify
families of any cancellations.
The health and safety of our students, families and staff remain our utmost priority. Please know that we are available and will be receiving telephone messages and e-mails during school closures.
