Dear Friends, members of the ECC of the Rocky Mountain Region,

“The heavens are telling the glory of God and all creation is shouting for joy.” Marty Haugen.

Happy Easter!

Yes, we continue to celebrate Easter! Resurrection! New Life! In the northern hemisphere, in Colorado, we enjoy a feast of our senses! The stunning bright magentas of tree blossoms. The chirping of birds. The fragrance of lilacs. The gentle caress of raindrops on our skin. The lingering remembrance of Easter eggs savored on Easter morning and the taste of snowflakes gently on our tongues. Jesus’ resurrection announces the seamless gift of Life: from before our birth, throughout our earthly journey, to eternity – always in all ways in God.

The Gospel of John last Saturday shared Jesus’ metaphor of The Vine, branches and fruit. We are encouraged to stay connected to Jesus, his Ways, his Life, his Love poured out sacrificially. The Holy runs in our veins… and… pours over us anew in every moment through the Spirit. We are called to love intentionally, on purpose, prayerfully being pruned to subtract what gets in our way of loving and living for the benefit of ALL. The Holy runs in our veins; how can we let it flow more freely in and through us? Together, we inspire one another on the journey. Each community in the region serves God and neighbor uniquely. We call each other to greater Love.

So let’s get together and listen to one another. Our regional council has set aside the afternoon of Sunday, June 9th beginning at 3 p.m. for our regional picnic. Please save the date. We are scouting out a central location in the north metro area. Our vision is to continue to build relationships, share a meal and reflect together. More details will be coming soon.

Another opportunity for gathering is, of course, our national Synod coming up in October locally in Estes Park We encourage you to volunteer, get involved, plan to attend and participate in the broad Holy Conversation. Daniel Iverson wrote a song nearly 100 years ago in 1926 after hearing a sermon on the Holy Spirit during an evangelism crusade: Spirit of the Living God, Fall afresh on us. Melt us, mold us, fill us, use us. Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us. https://youtu.be/ccaFnRYLTok Again, I invite you to take a few minutes to listen, perhaps with your hands extended palms up. Breathe. This is my prayer for all of us as we draw near to Pentecost. May we be re-newed to more fully live, reveal and express the Holy already and always surging within us. Thank you for your irreplaceable presence among us.

Peace and love,

+Kae
