Dear PIYC Members:
I hope this finds you all recovering from Hurricane Ian safely, albeit probably with issues to resolve like most of us.
Ali has been doing a terrific job keeping you up to date on our progress in remediation after the Hurricane. Therefore, I will not attempt to give on-site updates, but I am in contact with Ali daily and have full confidence in the recovery efforts underway. We have both challenges and opportunities ahead, and we are being mindful about our approach to restoration. It will take some time to fully understand what a timeline to resume operations looks like.
To that end, I am setting up two small, focused teams: a Marina Recovery Team and a Club Recovery Team comprised of Board Members and Committee Chairs. We will be focused on “what’s next” after the remediation is complete and we are stabilized. We will use our standing Committees to address needed changes to operations until we can get back on our feet. Business as usual is not yet on our radar screen!
Our staff has been terrific in our cleanup so far, even as they address personal impacts from the storm and navigate the recovery. Based on Member feedback, we are in the midst of evaluating their needs and will set up an emergency funding effort from Members, if you are inclined, to give them support. More later on these efforts.
Finally, two requests: First, we would kindly ask everyone to please stay away from the Island if you do not need to be here. Cars from Members and residents are hampering our cleanup efforts with all of the contractors with large equipment that need access. Second, as we make efforts toward resuming normal operations, we ask for your patience with our staff. We are once again confronted with a situation that is wholly new to all of us, and our team is committed, but small. Based on preliminary assessments, this will be a long recovery. I know our staff is dedicated to creating another great season for us, but some things may take longer than usual. We will be fully fleshing out the impacts of this storm for months to come.
As we work back towards 100% administrative operations at the Club, please contact me if you urgently need something or want to ask questions. My cell is: 513-885-9508.
I hope you all are safe and supporting each other in the aftermath of this disaster.
Sincerely,
