Blessing of the Animals – Celebrate the Win!
Last Saturday was a truly joyful day at New Covenant as we gathered for our, soon-to-be-annual, Blessing of the Animals. It was a heartwarming morning filled with wagging tails, joyful barks, gentle purrs – and even a few chirps – as Pastor Ellen and Pastor Randy blessed nearly 100 beloved pets, including two special feathered friends.
The event was not only a time of gratitude for our animal companions, but also a wonderful opportunity for fellowship, food, and fun. People mingled with other pet lovers, enjoyed refreshments, and celebrated the unconditional love and companionship that our pets bring into our lives.
We were blessed to have the support of our community partners as well. A local dog rescue group joined us to share their mission, pet sitters, and a groomer were also on hand, offering complimentary nail trims and helpful advice.
It was such a delight to meet your fur babies and to see so many smiling faces. We are grateful for your presence and participation in making this event so special. Thank you for bringing your pets to be blessed and for helping us create a morning filled with love, laughter, and connection.
We’re already looking forward to the next Blessing of the Animals and hope to see even more furry (and feathered!) friends next time.
If you had a photo taken with your pet, please pick it up in the West Narthex this Sunday, May 11, between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM.

For the Fruit of All Creation
For the fruits of His creation, thanks be to God;
For the gifts to every nation, thanks be to God;
For the plowing, sowing, reaping,
Silent growth while men are sleeping,
Future needs in Earth’s safe keeping, thanks be to God!
In the just reward of labor, God’s will is done;
In the hope we give our neighbor, God’s will is done;
In our worldwide take of caring
For the hungry and despairing,
In the harvests men are sharing, God’s will is done.
The repeated phrases of this hymn – “thanks be to God” and “God’s will is done” — underscore the essential elements of Christian stewardship; our offering of gratitude and service to God.

Spirited Singles Begin New Study
Begins this Sunday, May 11, at 10:15 AM in Classroom 3
“Christian – It’s Not What You Think” — is an eight-session video-based Bible study examining the characteristics Jesus used to define those who follow him and the implications these characteristics have for believers today.
Through this study you’ll learn:
- The one word that should be descriptive of EVERY Christian
- How Jesus’ followers should treat those OUTSIDE the faith
- Why people love Jesus but CAN’T STAND his followers
Through this study Andy Stanley unpacks the qualities Jesus prescribes for his followers which makes them unique. What if followers today embodied these traits and put them above all others? Would the non-believing world put aside its derisive definition of “Christian” and instead know us by our love.
Everyone is welcome and you do not need to purchase the book.

Bridging Gaps Through Conversation
Wednesday, May 14 from 1 PM – 3:30 PM
This event is designed to give everyone a safe space to discuss race, religion and politics in table conversations. We will discuss the 2019 movie “American Son,” which was adapted from a play by Christopher Demos-Brown. It explores the themes of race, identity, and family in a divided America.
Although we encourage you to watch the full movie prior to your attendance, a trailer of the movie will be shown at the beginning of the event. The full movie version can be found on Netflix, Prime Video, or Tubi (which is free).
For more information, please contact Janine Rogers, Director, Missions & Outreach.
