Celebrating the Heart of New Covenant —

Our Volunteers

At New Covenant, volunteers are more than helping hands – they are the heart and soul of our church community. Every smile at the door, every family served, every person cared for, and every behind-the-scenes effort reflects the love and dedication of those who choose to serve.

To each and every volunteer: THANK YOU. Your time, energy, and faithfulness do not go unnoticed. You are making a difference in ways both seen and unseen – creating a welcoming space where people feel known, valued and loved. Because of you, New Covenant isn’t just a place people attend – it’s a place they belong.

One of the beautiful things about our church is there truly is a place for everyone to serve. Whether you enjoy greeting guests, helping with events, supporting behind the scenes, or using creative or administrative gifts, there is an opportunity that fits your passions and your schedule. You don’t have to have it all figured out – you just have to be willing.

Volunteering is not only a blessing to others – it’s a gift to yourself as well. It’s a way to build meaningful relationships, grow in your faith, and feel more connected to the life of our church. Many of our volunteers will tell you that what they receive far outweighs what they give.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, consider this your invitation. Step in, try something new, and discover the joy that comes from serving alongside others who share your heart for this community.

Again, to our incredible volunteers – thank you for all you do. You are seen, you are appreciated, and you are deeply valued.

Bring Weekend at Easter: A Wonderful Win for New Covenant

One of the great joys of this Holy Week and Easter season is simple: Bring Weekend worked.

As part of New Covenant’s special Bring Weekends emphasis, Holy Week and Easter gave our church family a meaningful opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, family members, and first-time guests to come and worship. The Bring Weekends card identifies April 2–5 as one of this year’s key invitation weekends focused on Jesus’ Resurrection Celebration / Holy Week Services. It also points ahead to the remaining 2026 Bring Weekends on June 20–21 and October 17–18.

And what a response there was.

In this 25th Anniversary year of New Covenant United Methodist Church, Holy Week and Easter were a beautiful reminder of who we are: a place to call home. Throughout the week, our congregation opened its doors wide and welcomed people into worship marked by reverence, beauty, warmth, and the hope of the risen Christ.

From the Palm Saturday Chancel Choir presentation of Blessed by Joel Raney, to Palm Sunday morning worship, to the moving observance of Maundy Thursday with Holy Communion, Scripture, the Chancel Choir, and Ellen Pollock preaching, this holy week was filled with meaningful moments.

Good Friday was especially significant.

Pastor Harold made a clear and compelling challenge to our congregation: you cannot get to Easter without going through Good Friday. He called on New Covenant to reach 500 in attendance for Good Friday worship. Including both our in-person worshippers and online worship viewers, we exceeded the goal with 787 in attendance. That matters. In a culture that often wants celebration without reflection, New Covenant showed up to stand before the cross, to hear the readings led by all of our pastors, to join in special music and hymns, and to enter into the powerful reflection on “Silence.” It was poignant, reverent, and deeply meaningful.

Then came the joy of Easter. Across Saturday evening Contemporary Worship, Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM, and Festival Worship at 9 AM and 11 AM, the message of resurrection was proclaimed with strength, joy, and deep gratitude.

Almost 5,000 people attended worship in person during Holy Week and Easter. When Fresh Expressions and online viewing are included, close to 9,000 people were reached.

That is a real reason to celebrate.

Not simply because of the numbers, but because of what they represent: invitations were extended, guests were welcomed, worship was offered faithfully, and New Covenant lived fully into its calling to be a church home for so many. This Bring Weekend was not just well attended. It showed the simple power of personal invitation and the hunger people still have for worship that is meaningful, faithful, and Christ-centered.

We are deeply grateful for the many people whose service made this week possible: our pastors, staff, volunteers serving in greeting, ushering, and the Welcome Center, The Guild for decorating, our Technical Ministry team and volunteers, choir members, instrumentalists, worship leaders, and all who served faithfully behind the scenes and in front of the congregation. Their work helped make every service welcoming, beautiful, reverent, and meaningful.

This is exactly why Bring Weekends matter. They give us a shared opportunity to extend a warm invitation, open our doors a little wider, and remind others that New Covenant is truly a place to call home.

As we celebrate this Easter Bring Weekend win, we also look ahead with anticipation to the next two Bring Weekends this year: June 20–21, Family Togetherness / Father’s Day Special Event, and October 17–18, A Place to Call Home / 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Thanks be to God for a Holy Week and Easter filled with faithful worship, warm welcome, strong participation, and the simple power of invitation.

New Sunday Morning Study on Artificial Intelligence

Begins this Sunday, April 19 at 8 AM and 10:10 AM in the Chapel

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has moved quickly from a novelty to something that shows up in nearly every part of our lives. What once felt like small conveniences now shapes how we work, connect, learn, and even worship. For many Christians, AI can still feel like something out of a sci-fi movie, stirring up worry, confusion, or distrust.

We are called to examine our faith as our world changes yet again. We will be using a study titled, “God and the Machine.” God and the Machine speaks to anyone who is unsure, curious, or somewhere in between. Ignoring AI is no longer an option, yet we are still called to approach every new tool with care and discernment. United Methodist pastor, Nathan Webb, guides readers through what AI means for the church — offering clarity, honesty, and hope. Along the way, you will explore how to welcome new possibilities without letting go of your values and how God may be opening surprising, grace-filled opportunities in this emerging world.

This six-week study Bible study will be led by Randy Cooke, Teaching Pastor. All who are interested are welcome to attend. If he does not know the answer to your question, Randy may be able to ask AI.

The Chosen Season 3

Begins Wednesday, April 22 from 2 PM – 4 PM

The next season of The Chosen will run for 8 weeks – one episode per week. Each session starts in the Chapel where we watch the episode together and then continues in breakout sessions where we discuss the messages we glean from the program. Each episode stands alone, so feel free to drop in and join us as you are able.

Season 3 of “The Chosen” explores transformative encounters with Jesus, focusing on themes of forgiveness, faith, and community, while following the disciples’ growth and challenges. The third season portrays the increasing popularity of Jesus, which troubles different societal and political groups, including the Romans and the Pharisees. Following the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus sends His Twelve Apostles, two by two, to preach and perform miracles, leading to the disciples facing their greatest challenge. Jesus then returns to His hometown, Nazareth, which results in a shift to the ministry in the year of His popularity. After multiple miraculous occurrences, the season closes at the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus feeds thousands with loaves and fish and then walks on the water.

If you have any questions, please contact Randy Cooke, Teaching Pastor.
