Night to Shine Recap

New Covenant had the opportunity to host a “Night to Shine” event, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, on Friday, February 9, 2024. Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience for people who have special needs. There were 100 individuals with special needs who participated in Night to Shine along with a “buddy” who was their companion for the event. Over 300 volunteers helped to organize and participate in the event. The honored guests arrived in a sports car and were greeted by hundreds of paparazzi cheering their arrival. The special guests were treated as celebrities, enjoyed a beautiful meal, and danced to the music of a live band. At the end of the evening, all of the honored guests were crowned as kings and queens of the prom. It was a remarkable evening. We are grateful for this opportunity to continue to live into our vision of being Christ's hands, feet, and voice in the world.

Men’s Ministry Retreat

Monday, March 18 at 7:30 AM – Tuesday, March 19 at 2 PM

Calling all Men! The New Covenant Men’s Ministry is hosting a two-day retreat at the Warren Willis Camp and Conference Center in Fruitland Park on the shores of Lake Griffin (about a thirty-minute drive from the church campus). This retreat will focus on men’s spiritual growth – how we can become better husbands, fathers, and grandfathers as we leave a positive spiritual legacy to our families and communities. We are excited to have Ronn Read as our guest speaker. Ronn is from Man in the Mirror – an organization whose purpose is to equip Christian men to engage in meaningful relationships that change lives and build the kingdom of God. His background and experience promise to make this an event that will grow your faith and shine a light on your path.

We hope that you will be excited about this opportunity to join your fellow Christian men and explore our opportunities to transform ourselves, our families, and our communities by discovering how we can build meaningful relationships and use our individual gifts for the glory of our Lord. Whether you have been to a dozen retreats before or this will be your first experience, please join us for two days nourishing and empowering your faith journey with your fellow Christian men.

The cost is $110 for an overnight stay and $75 for commuters. This price includes the program and five meals (three on Monday and breakfast and lunch on Tuesday). We will offer a movie to those who stay overnight. You must provide your own transportation. Registration is required.

General Announcements

The "Rich Fool"

“But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” (Luke 12:20-21, NLT)

The parable of the rich fool jumps out because of its relevance to how we structure our personal finances. The parallel of the rich landowner in Luke 12 to our modern philosophy of wealth accumulation serves as a stern warning about the dangers of excess.

Fresh Expressions Outreach

We are pleased to offer a new opportunity of outreach as New Covenant serves and reaches out to the many living facilities in The Villages and the surrounding areas. We hope that you will be excited about this opportunity to join in serving the many residents who live in these local living facilities. We will strive to provide a meaningful mini worship service to the residents. If you have the gift of music, prayer, or sharing a devotion, this may be the perfect fit for you. All volunteers for this ministry undergo training in protecting vulnerable adults as well as a background check. Our hope is to build meaningful relationships with the residents as we offer the love of Jesus Christ.

Hope for Hurting Parents

2nd & 4th Thursdays at 2 PM in Classroom 14

Hope for Hurting Parents (HHP) is a biweekly support group for parents and grandparents who are dealing with adult children who are struggling with addiction, incarceration, estrangement, mental health challenges, and other situations. HHP was developed by Tom and Dena Yohe, who have dealt with their own challenges and felt led to use their story to help others. Dena published a book, You Are Not Alone, which is available through Amazon and other sellers, and her writing helps us look to God with our life events, knowing that we have an Almighty God who walks with us. New Covenant is very fortunate to have these special groups to help others on their journey. For any questions, please contact Sharon Weimert, Care Ministry Specialist, using the link below.

Terrific Tuesday Dinner Event March 2024

Tuesday, March 12 from 4:45 PM – 7 PM

Pastor Harold will lead a new Terrific Tuesday series titled, “Jesus by the Sea.” During the three-year ministry of Jesus, He spent more time around the Sea of Galilee than any other location. We find that the greatest teachings, miracles, and callings of Jesus came around that body of water. During this series, Pastor Harold will pick a key event that is connected to the Sea of Galilee and explore the meaning with us. Join us as we follow Jesus around the lake. There is plenty to learn and discover.

You may also come at 5:45 PM just to hear Pastor Harold's presentation without attending dinner — no charge and no registration required for the presentation only.

Menu: Tossed Garden Greens with Honey Vinaigrette, Dijon Tarragon Cream Chicken, Almond Rice Pilaf, Roasted Broccoli, Dinner Roll & Butter, Carrot Layer Cake

Registration is required for dinner ($12). To register, please use the button below.
