Spiritual Reflection
Can you envision a day, just one day, absent the dread of failure, rejection, and calamity. Can you imagine a life with no fear? This is the possibility behind Jesus’ question. “Why are you afraid?” Matthew 8:26 Max Lucado

Helping Hands
The Helping Hands Ministry will build its third Habitat for Humanity home this fall. This ministry has built approximately 39 homes in our local community. Each home represents more than just walls and a roof; it represents hope, stability, and a brighter future for a family in need. We are grateful for everyone who has given their time, talents, and energy to make these projects possible.
Volunteers are needed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 8 AM to 12 PM to support this effort. No specials skills are required, just a willing heart, a desire to serve, and a willingness to help a family reach their goal of homeownership. Come join us, meet others in our community, and be part of something that will make a lasting difference in the life of a local family
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Gary Search, Ministry Chair.
Together, we can build more than a house; we can help build a future!

Production Volunteers
The Production Team helps bring worship to life each week by running sound and cameras, displaying lyrics on the screens, and making sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. We’re always looking for new volunteers who are interested in being part of the team. You don’t need years of technical experience to get started. If you’re willing to learn, we can train you.
Production is a great way to serve if you enjoy technology, music, video, or simply being part of the team that helps make worship possible. If you’d like to learn more about serving with Production, reach out to Branden Paul, Tech Manager.

Christmas Giving
The “Season of Giving” begins early at New Covenant with the first opportunity to support local children in our community in September. We generally kick it off with Samaritan Purse’s Operation Christmas Child (shoeboxes), but this year’s support will be for foster and homeless youth with Christmas Care Kits for Kids instead. During this month we will collect needed hygiene items for youth in independent living programs or youth who experience homelessness throughout the year. During the 2025-2026 school year there were 207 homeless students in the Sumter County school system, and 65 in Kids Central’s Independent Living Program for foster care youth.
Additionally, in October, we will bless approximately 250 children through Christmas Wish Tree. The wishes and desires of children will be filled with toys, clothing, and other items requested by their families in order to make Christmas a little more special.
This November, we once again have the opportunity to support the Wildwood Food Pantry. As the rising cost of groceries continues to create challenges for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in Sumter County, your generous donations can help provide much-needed food and support to our community.
The Giving in the Spirit booklet is distributed the first weekend of November and highlights ministries and organizations that rely on our support to continue their important work
We invite you to join in as we spread love and joy this holiday season!

John Had It Right
John Wesley, the Founder of the Methodist Church, was an incredible servant of God. Wesley reminded his followers that “the love of money,” not money itself, is the “root of all evil.” (1 Timothy 6:10)
John said, “the fault does not lie in the money, but in them that use it.” He declared that when used in ways that are consistent with biblical wisdom, money is “an excellent gift of God, answering the noblest ends.” On another occasion he said, “…do not throw it away on idle expenses, which is just the same as throwing it in the sea.”
Wesley saw using money properly as a practical way of conducting one’s life. How well are we using God’s gift?

"Christianity's Family Tree"
Tuesday, August 18 at 9 AM
Adam Hamilton presents a welcoming, inspiring vision of eight Christian denominations and faith traditions. Comparing the Christian family to our own extended families, he contends that each denomination has a unique, valuable perspective to offer on the Christian faith.
The traditions he examines are Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Lutheranism, Presbyterianism, Anglicanism, Baptists, Pentecostalism, and Methodism. For each group, Hamilton gives a brief history, outlines major beliefs, and describes some things we can learn from that tradition to strengthen our own Christian faith.
Facilitator: Rev. Ellen Pollock, book is recommended.
If you have any questions, please contact Pat Hill, Care Coordinator - Discipleship.

Upcoming Holy Land Tour and Journeys of Paul Tour
Pastor Harold will lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land next spring (March 8 – 17, 2027).
In addition, Pastor Harold will be leading a cruise tour that follows in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul. The cruise (October 6 – 17, 2027) will take us to towns where Paul had established churches such as Philippi, Thessaloniki, Corinth, Athens, and Ephesus. There also will be stops in Rhodes, Mykonos, and Santorini, Greece.
If you are interested in learning more about these tours, you can pick up a brochure at the Welcome Center in the East Narthex, download the information from the New Covenant website, or use the links below.
In the fall, Pastor Harold will hold information meetings to talk more about these trips, answer questions, and share more details.

Handy Fellas
The Handy Fellas are a wonderful group of volunteers who enjoy helping with small household repairs and tasks. They can assist with things like changing lightbulbs, replacing batteries, and other simple jobs around the home.
Handy Fellas was born out of the Men’s Ministry as a way to serve others in the name of Jesus. We have two groups and they are divided along the Highway 466 line.
We need more volunteers that are willing and able to offer this type of care, so if you have a knack for doing small repairs, contact Sharon Weimert for more information.
*Because volunteers will be working in a family’s home, a background check is required for this volunteer opportunity*

Let us care for you
One of the most important things people look for in a church home is "will the church care for me when I am in need?” There are several ways to help us stay connected so we can care for you well!
First, if you have a change of address, phone, or email, please let us know. This helps us with correspondence through mail, email, or if we are trying to reach you by phone. Since many of us no longer use a landline, please make sure we have your current cell phone number on file. You can update your information by speaking with the receptionist or any staff member.
Next, please check in at the kiosk by using your New Covenant ID card or by using your phone number. This helps us stay connected and check in if we haven’t seen you for a couple of weeks.
Lastly, another important way to help us care for you is to have a neighbor, relative, or designee call the church if you have a health emergency. We want to know so we can check on you and offer spiritual support.
These simple steps help New Covenant stay connected, care for one another, and be Christ’s hands, feet, and voice.
If you have questions or need to update your information, please contact Sandy Thornton in the Care office.
