Celebrating New Covenant's 25th Anniversary
Our Final "Bring Weekend" of 2026

Friday, October 16 - Sunday, October 18, 2026

For 25 years, New Covenant United Methodist Church has been "A Place to Call Home." This October, we will gather for an entire weekend celebrating all God has done and looking with faith toward all God is calling us to do next.

Our 25th Anniversary Weekend will be our fourth and final "Bring Weekend" of 2026. "Bring Weekends" are special opportunities throughout the year designed to be simple for all of us to invite friends, neighbors, and family members to worship with us. Consider who you might invite to be a part of celebrating this special milestone in the life of New Covenant.

This anniversary is not simply about remembering the past. It is about giving thanks for our shared story, celebrating the ministry happening among us now, and renewing our commitment to living into the vision of being Christ’s hands, feet, and voice in the world in the years ahead.

Guest Worship Leader Derrick Burt

Joining us throughout the anniversary weekend will be guest worship leader Derrick Burt of Jackson, Mississippi.

Derrick is an accomplished worship leader and concert vocalist who serves as Director of Music Ministries and Worship Leader at First Baptist Church of Natchez. A graduate of Jackson State University, he has led worship for churches, conferences, and denominational gatherings across Mississippi and beyond. His extensive ministry experience, powerful voice, and genuine love for congregational worship will add something truly special to our anniversary celebration.

Derrick will help lead us as we worship, remember, celebrate, and give thanks throughout the weekend.

A Celebration of Faithfulness: 25 Years of New Covenant

This special anniversary worship celebration will bring our entire church family together. Through music, prayer, storytelling, and thanksgiving, we will honor the past, celebrate the present, welcome home former members and leaders, and renew our vision for the future God is preparing.

Following the service, everyone is invited to the Fellowship Center for the 25th Anniversary Celebration Party!

A weekend of this size will require the gifts and service of many people as we welcome our congregation, returning members, and the wider community. Planning teams and committees are now being formed. If you would like to serve, please contact Sean Pollock, Director, Worship & Events using the button below.

Mark your calendar, invite someone to come home, and plan to be part of this historic weekend. Together, we will celebrate 25 years of God’s faithfulness—and step boldly into New Covenant’s next chapter.

Key Announcements

The New Covenant Legacy Tree

The installation of New Covenant’s Legacy Tree has been completed. The tree is a symbol of God’s faithfulness in our past, His presence with us today, and His promise to guide your church home into the generations yet to come.

The Legacy Fund was established in 2007. Legacy giving is an act of worship, providing you an opportunity to make gifts that support ministry, spiritual growth and planting seeds that will bless others long after our own lifetime.

The leaves on the tree have been engraved with the names of those who have made gifts, or have indicated that by way of their will or trust that they will leave a future gift to the Legacy Fund.

At the base of the tree rests nine stones inscribed with Scriptures and words of faith. They remind us to pass our faith forward, to give from what God has given to us, and to bless those who will come after us.

After each service this weekend, please join members of the Legacy Committee in the Narthex near the Legacy Tree to view your leaf or to receive information about how you can participate in current or future gifts to the Legacy Fund. For more information, contact Linda Stubits, Finance Manager, using the button below.

We hope to see you this weekend. We would love to celebrate this milestone with you.

Summer Food Drive

On behalf of the Wildwood Food Pantry, we would like to thank New Covenant for your generosity in donating a large amount of food to support the Summer Food Drive. The number of families we serve has increased tremendously over the last year, and your support will help us meet the needs of the local community.

We are grateful for all of the volunteers and their continued dedication.

Just a reminder that the bins are available throughout the week in the West and East Narthex for food donations.

Walking with Grief: You Don't Have to Walk Alone

Tuesdays, August 4 through September 2 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM

Grief is one of the most universal experiences we face, yet it can also be one of the loneliest. Whether you've lost a spouse, a parent, a child, a friend, or are grieving another significant loss, the journey can feel overwhelming. While everyone experiences grief differently, one truth remains the same: healing is often found in the presence of others.

Our Walking with Grief group is a safe, welcoming place for anyone navigating the difficult road of loss. This isn't a place where you are expected to "move on" or have all the answers. Instead, it's a community where people understand that grief doesn't follow a timetable and where every person's story is treated with compassion and respect. Together, we'll share encouragement, listen without judgment, and discover practical and spiritual resources for living with loss. Sometimes you may find comfort simply by listening. Other times you may want to share your own experiences. There is never any pressure—only an invitation to come as you are.

As Christians, we believe that even in our deepest sorrow, God walks beside us. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Our hope is not that grief disappears, but that God's presence and the support of His people help us carry it.

If you or someone you know is grieving, we invite you to join us for Walking with Grief. Whether your loss is recent or occurred years ago, you are welcome. Together, we'll discover that while grief changes us, we never have to face it alone. Class begins Tuesday August 4 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in classroom 2. For more information contact Sharon Weimert, Care Coordinator. No registration required.

General Announcements

John Had it Right

John Wesley, the Founder of the Methodist Church, was an incredible servant of God. Wesley reminded his followers that “the love of money,” not money itself, is the “root of all evil.” (1 Timothy 6:10)

He said, “the fault does not lie in the money, but in them that use it.” He declared that when used in ways that are consistent with biblical wisdom, money is “an excellent gift of God, answering the noblest ends.” On another occasion he said, “…Do not throw it away on idle expenses, which is just the same as throwing it in the sea.”

Wesley saw using money properly as a practical way of conducting one’s life. How well are we using God’s gift?
