As we watch the events unfolding this week in our towns and across the nation in response to the tragedy in Minneapolis, we pray for the safety of all involved. This is a confusing, troubled and unstable time in our nation’s history. The events of this week and the outcry from many of our neighbors, makes it obvious that things need to change. We might not know how or where to begin to repair our nation, but we as REALTORS® can serve as a beacon of hope. When we took the oath as REALTORS®, we promised to live by a high standard of equality.
We proudly wear our REALTOR® R, which signifies the pledge we took to abide by our Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913 and the Fair Housing Act, adopted in 1968 and amended in 2010 and 2013. We might not know the right words to say, or the appropriate things to do right now, during these unsettled times, but what we can all agree on is that as a nation, we have a lot to learn.
One thing we do know for sure is what a REALTOR® stands for – and that, we feel, is a great place to start.
We send our prayers to all of you and your families during this time. If there is anything RAFV can do for you, please reach out to either one of us.
