Message from Superintendent
Dear San Marino Unified School District Parents,

I hope everyone had an amazing and restful summer. I am super excited to welcome our wonderful students back to school on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Our Board of Education, executive team, principals, assistant principals, directors, teachers, and classified staff have all been working diligently behind the scenes to prepare for the return of students and staff to all four of our school campuses.

I'd like to remind everyone that there are some modifications that have been made to the start time at our middle and high schools this year. This is primarily due to the passage of the Portantino SB 328 legislation signed by the Governor to be implemented this year. The new start time at Huntington Middle School is 8:10 a.m. and the new start time at San Marino High School is 8:30 a.m. There is no change to the 8:30 a.m. start time at Valentine and Carver Schools. Elementary students may be dropped off as early as 8:15 a.m.

Please be mindful of these new start times as you are preparing to drop off your children. There may be an impact on traffic flow during the first couple of weeks of school and we want everyone to be cautious and have plenty of time to get their children to school on time safely. If you have further questions about start times, please contact the school sites directly or go to the school's website for additional information. I look forward to seeing students back on our campuses next week!

Sincerely,

Linda de la Torre, Ed.D.
Superintendent
