As the seasons change and we warmly welcome the holidays, the Lakeside Association Board of Directors, staff, and Sesquicentennial Steering Committee have been working hard to create an unforgettable 2023 Chautauqua season for you and your loved ones. The 150th Lakeside season will honor the past, celebrate the present, and look to the future of our beloved community. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for announcements of our summer highlights.
In the meantime, join our new Lakeside Online community to connect with friends via Zoom and catch a sneak peek of what’s in store for the Sesquicentennial Celebration. From December through April, discuss books written by next summer’s keynote speakers, participate in virtual conversations with the Chautauqua Pillar Directors, and make the holiday season meaningful with an Advent Study.
We're also ready to recognize members of our new Streets and Drainage Advisory Task Force that will be working with Lakeside Board and staff to collaborate on the infrastructure initiative.
Over the past three years, the Lakeside Board has been conducting an audit of our current Rules and Regulations, with the goal of creating the best experience for all of our community members and guests. While these Rules have been thoroughly discussed, reviewed, and are likely to pass, we would greatly appreciate your feedback for consideration. Read details below.
Next year, we will celebrate 150 years of nurturing the mind, body, and spirit for the millions of people who have journeyed to our shoreline. Lakeside announces Streets and Drainage Advisory Task Force
Lakeside Chautauqua suffers from significant deferred maintenance in the areas of adequate drainage, storm runoff, street and sidewalk deterioration, and street/intersection safety.
Due to the overwhelming number of questions raised by Lakeside Property Owners Association members, a Streets and Drainage Advisory Task Force has been formed. This team is comprised of Lakeside staff, Lakeside Association Board of Directors, Lakeside Property Owners Association representatives, and community members with professional expertise in construction, engineering, law, finance, and Lakeside’s needs.
Over the next six to eight months, Streets and Drainage Advisory Task Force members will partner with Lakeside Executive staff and the Board to provide recommendations regarding:
- Prioritizing recommendations from the preliminary engineering report
- Suggesting priorities around the timing and phases of the project
- Key points to submit to contractors to obtain bids
The Task Force will provide recommendations regarding the project at the Association Board meeting in May 2023.

Lakeside's Rules and Regulations revisions
As you may be aware, over the past three years we have been conducting an audit of Lakeside's current Rules and Regulations with the goal of creating the best experience for all of our community members and guests.
The Lakeside Association Board of Directors will be voting on the amendments to Lakeside's Rules and Regulations at the February 17, 2023, meeting. While these rules have been thoroughly discussed, reviewed, and are likely to pass, we would greatly appreciate your feedback and consideration. Please keep an eye out the week of December 5 to review Lakeside's Rules and Regulations.
In the meantime, we would love to conduct individual discussions with you to hear any comments or concerns. Don't hesitate to reach out to Jane Anderson, Lakeside Association Board of Directors Chair, for a conversation.
