Message from the CAEP Office Regarding COVID-19 and Its Impact on Adult Education
As we navigate the current developments of the COVID-19, the CAEP Office continues to provide up-to-date system-wide information and resources to assist your program in moving to an online platform.

The CAEP Office and CAEP TAP held its first Office Hour on Friday, March 27, 2020. It was a huge success! In total, there were more than 120 adult education practitioners engaged in meaningful dialogue around issues related to the impact of COVID-19 on CAEP. In response to a unanimous vote, the office hour will continue. Register for this week’s office hour – Friday, April 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. We have invited some guests to join us!

Additionally, the CAEP Office and CAEP TAP will host a webinar, including a NOVA live demonstration, on the CFAD and other pressing CAEP topics. The webinar will take place on Friday, April 17, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Register to attend the upcoming webinar.

The CAEP Office and CAEP TAP are here to assist consortia during this public health crisis. Please email any questions to tap@caladulted.org or give us a call at (888) 827-2324.

Health professionals, California needs you!
California is preparing for an increase in the number of people who urgently need health care in our communities during the COVID-19 outbreak. To meet this moment, the California Health Corps is opening additional health care sites to treat people affected by COVID-19 and to relieve the pressure on the California health care system. Visit the California Health Corps website to learn more about the healthcare positions needed and eligibility.

California Needs Personal Protective Equipment!
The Health Workforce Initiative, powered by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), is collecting a statewide inventory of needed personal protective equipment (PPE). The supply chain and already donated items are reported to the Governor’s Office, CCCCO, and the Office of Emergency Services daily. Read the notice for more information and use the Healthcare Inventory tabs ( adult schools and community colleges ) to donate PPE and/or report already donated items.

The CAEP Office has populated LVN, CNA, and other healthcare related programs for about 80 adult schools. Please review and fill in missing details.

OTAN COVID-19 Support to Adult Educators
In response to COVID-19 and school closures across the State, the Outreach and Technical Assistance Network (OTAN) has set up a number of online webinars, office hours for adult education practitioners who are continuing to teach and support their learners, and a dedicated COVID-19 Field Support webpage. Their webinars and office hours are outlined below:

OCTAE’s FAQs in Response to COVID-19 Memorandum
The purpose of the memorandum is to provide clarification, flexibilities, and supports to State Adult Education Offices as States seek to provide continuity of operations for adult learners in the current COVID-19 environment. Download a copy of the memorandum.
#2020Census Day
Census Day 2020 has arrived! The 2020 Census counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. territories.
