Good Morning Valued Chamber Member,

Governor DeSantis announced the creation of the SunPass Savings Program. Beginning on Thursday, September 1, the program is a toll relief package that will provide discounts to Floridians who use SunPass and other Florida transponders on Florida Department of Transportation and Turnpike toll facilities for their daily commute. Customers who pay at least $40 in tolls monthly will receive a 20% credit on their SunPass account every month. Customers with $80 or more in monthly tolls will receive a 25% monthly credit. This program is anticipated to impact roughly 400,000 SunPass customers and will run for six months until the Florida Legislature holds its annual session to work on a more wide-reaching toll relief package.

The Governor estimates that this program will return nearly $40 million to SunPass customers over the six-month period. SunPass customers don't have to take any action to take advantage of the credit — it will automatically appear on customers’ bills beginning in October. In addition to Florida's Turnpike, drivers who use toll express lanes on Interstate 95, Interstate 75, and Interstate 595, along with the Sawgrass Expressway, will be eligible for the savings. However, certain roads operated by the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority and Central Florida Expressway Authority will not be included under the program. Haven’t gotten your tickets to tomorrow’s Annual Boynton Beach Food, Wine & Brew Fest? No problem, tickets will be available for purchase at the door! I look forward to seeing you at this signature Boynton Beach event this Thursday night at Benvenuto Restaurant. The night will feature food from some of Palm Beach county's most recognized restaurants as well as a wine & beer tasting from local breweries. To purchase individual tickets, click here.

The City of Boynton Beach is asking for the community’s assistance in nominating Pioneer Canal Park for the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA)’s Niagara's Perk Your Park Contest. Pioneer Canal Park will compete against nine other parks from around the country for one of three $75,000 grants. The city plans to use the funds to add a boat launch and observation deck if selected. The upgrades would offer parkgoers access to waterway activities such as boating, fishing, kayaking, and observing wildlife. The park currently offers amenities including basketball, tennis, and beach volleyball courts. Winners will be chosen based purely on the number of votes received. You can vote once per day per email address until the contest ends on September 12. Click here to vote.

Earlier this week Michael DeBock, Vice President, Energy, Marketing, and Trading, for NextEra Energy spoke at our exclusive Trustee luncheon. Michael began his career as an Apache helicopter pilot for the United States Army and shared valuable leadership lessons he learned during his time in the service. In addition, Michael spoke about the investment NextERA and FPL are making in alternative energy offerings in solar, wind, and water. Thank you, Michael, for taking the time to share your valuable insights! If you’re interested in learning more about the Trustee Membership program, contact the Chamber’s Executive Vice President, Sarah Pearson.
