Message from the Chair

As the year draws to a close and on behalf of the officers and staff of CSG West, I would like to wish you and your families a wonderful and safe holiday season, and to express our sincere thanks for your engagement in 2021. Despite the ongoing and evolving challenges with the COVID pandemic, CSG West was delighted to safely reconvene in-person gatherings this year which provided a space for policymakers to share ideas and learn from each other, including our annual meeting in Colorado Springs. This was possible thanks to the members, legislative staff, private sector partners, and key stakeholders that supported us throughout the year.
We look forward to a reinvigorating new year and continuing to serve policymakers and legislative staff from across the West. 2022 will also mark a special occasion - the 75th Anniversary of CSG West. We are looking forward to celebrating and reflecting on this important milestone during the CSG West Annual Meeting that will take place July 19-22 in Boise, Idaho.

It is our honor to provide a platform for Western leaders to collaborate and build stronger legislative institutions. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you. Stay involved and make CSG West even stronger. Happy New Year and see you soon!

SCOTUS Allows New York State’s Vaccine Mandate without a Religious Exemption to Stay in Effect
New York requires all health care workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and includes no religious exemption. Over the objections of Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch and without a written opinion, in We the Patriots USA v. Hochul, the Supreme Court allowed New York’s vaccine mandate to remain in effect while litigation over it continues in the lower federal courts. Click below to read more about this case.
