Message from the DMH/DD/SUS Director

Dear Community Partner,

As we previously shared, last week the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved North Carolina’s application for the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). Through this approval, North Carolina will receive over $213 million for the first year of the program to improve health and care delivery across our rural counties.

As we move toward implementation of our RHTP plan, we will continue to work closely with a broad coalition of state agencies, rural providers, community partners, academic institutions and the private sector. Once funding is received, NCDHHS will quickly establish a statewide governance structure, begin building regional hubs, and engage stakeholders in funding and implementation decisions.

As part of this collaboration, NCDHHS will host a virtual town hall on Friday, Jan. 16, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. to highlight program goals, next steps and statewide impact. We encourage all interested partners to register online and join us via Zoom. Please submit any questions you may have about the program and join our Rural Health Transformation Program mailing list when you register.

For additional information and updates, please visit the NC Rural Health Transformation Program webpage. The RHTP will support nearly 3 million rural North Carolinians, strengthen more than 400 rural health facilities, and bring federal investment to rural communities across the state.

We thank you for your continued partnership.

All my best,

Kelly
