Dear Community Partners,
I’m really excited to share something close to my heart—our new Inclusion Works Strategic Plan!
So, what is Inclusion Works? If you’ve already heard about it—awesome! If not, here’s an overview:
Inclusion Works is our plan—and more importantly, our commitment—to making sure people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are fully included, respected, and supported in the workforce.
We all know the workforce is going through a tough time right now. But what if part of the solution has been right in front of us all along? People with IDD aren’t just receiving services—they’re skilled, passionate people who want to work, and should have the same opportunities as anyone else.
Here’s what Inclusion Works is all about:
People with IDD (and the people who support them) deserve clear, real information about job options—so they can make informed decisions about what kind of work fits them best.
- Fair Pay and Equal Opportunity
Everyone deserves to work in a place where they’re respected, supported, and paid fairly—no exceptions.
- Support that Actually Supports
From job coaches to transportation to help connecting with services like vocational rehab—we want to make sure people have what they need to get and keep jobs that matter to them.
- Shifting How We Support Employment
We’re working with providers to rethink how employment supports are offered—so things like job readiness training and coaching are person-centered, meaningful, and effective.
This plan was built with the community—by listening to people with lived experience, families, providers, and partners. It’s grounded in a simple truth: everyone should have the chance to work in a setting that feels right for them.
I believe we all benefit from more inclusive workplaces. When people of all abilities are welcomed, included, and supported, our communities and our workforce become stronger, more creative, and more connected.
My best,
Kelly
