Ready to get your kids out of the house and into safe, fun summer camps? Check out the new Camp & Aquatic Guide for a variety of camp offerings in June, July and August. Little Scouts Camp engages preschooler’s imagination through hands-on activities in art, music, exploration and sensory play. Pottawatomie Camps meet weekly for full days of crafts, games and swimming for kids ages kindergarten to 8th grade! Pathfinder & Trailblazer Camps examine and explore ecology through hikes, critter meet & greets and creative crafts. Kids ages 5-10 can spend the afternoon on the trails as nature provides the entertainment in the new Nature Basecamp. There are so many choices for kids this summer to get away from their screens and explore the great outdoors right here in St. Charles!
Summer is always a time for celebrations, but this year is extra special for the St. Charles Park District. Several of the District’s facilities are celebrating anniversaries this year and we have planned a July Jamboree of Anniversaries for the community to enjoy. Following the Illinois Restore Plan, we plan for Concerts in the Park to return to Lincoln Park, as well as the annual July 4th Celebration in Pottawatomie Park which will include an extra-explosive fireworks display. The hottest family-friendly box office ticket this summer is FREE at the new Movies in the Park series. Bring a blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars!
Special Sporting Events
Friendly competition is fun for athletes of all ages and interests. Tiny Tots Track Meet s for all future Olympians ages 3-7 to compete in four running events and one field event. Youth ages 5- 15 can run, bike and swim in theSplashes, Dashes and Spokes Youth Triathlon on July 24th. Avid disc golfers and their friends are invited to compete for fun prizes in theDisc Golf Frenzy. Golfers age 21+ can taste brews and food samples from local establishments at the new Taste of St. Charles Golf Scramble on June 12. Balance that competitiveness with a peaceful Saturday morning of physical meditation with our Nigerian dwarf goats in Goat Yoga at Primrose Farm.
New Park Amenities Arriving Soon!
The Park District provides recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities. Evidence of that ongoing commitment can be found in two new amenities opening soon. Pottawatomie Park’s Sensory Garden & Inclusive Playground will allow guests the opportunity to engage in multi-sensory play. Visitors will experience diverse textures, vibrant colors, fragrant plants, audible sensations and more! Brand new outdoorpickleball courts have been added at James O. Breen Community Park to meet the demand for dedicated court space for this increasingly popular sport.
Summer fun never ends at the District’s favorite seasonal facilities. Swanson Pool and Otter Cove Aquatic Park will open May 29! Reservations for daily admission will be offered online. Swimming lessons, swim programs and swim teams will be modified to meet the IDPH guidelines for swimming facilities. Cruise the scenic Fox River aboard one of our Paddlewheel Riverboats. Private charters, specialty cruises and sunset cruises are all ways to enjoy travel from the era of Mark Twin.
