Happy Birthday, Blowing Rock Art & History Museum!

It was a pleasure to attend BRAHM’s Birthday celebration last night. Yes, the cake tasted as amazing as it looked! Thank you, for delivering some to Town Hall for everyone to enjoy!

Infrastructure Projects Update

Pine Street and Park Avenue

The Town’s contractor expects to complete the Pine Street waterline replacement by the end of next week. Pressure testing and sampling are complete, and crews are finishing the tie-ins. Before work begins on Park Avenue, the Town will meet with the contractor again to review the plan. The tentative schedule remains unchanged: work will begin after Pine Street is complete, with a projected start date of Monday, October 12th, and will take approximately three weeks.

-The project will replace the 4-inch cast iron lines with 6-inch ductile iron lines. Park Avenue will not be fully closed, but all through traffic will be restricted during work hours.

-Crews will work in 100-linear-foot sections, reopen the street each night, and perform no weekend work.

-Minor parking disruptions are expected on the Chamber of Commerce side during portions of the project.

-The contractor understands seasonal traffic and parking patterns and will adjust as needed.

-The Town and contractor will meet again next week for a final review before work begins the following week.

Clary Court Sidewalks

We have finalized the tentative workplan for the Clary Court sidewalks (see below). The work is being completed in four phases to minimize disruption.

Sidewalk/Deck Repairs

Sidewalk repairs around the Museum are scheduled to begin this Monday, October 5th - followed by parking deck repairs on November 2nd.

We will share additional details on the parking deck repairs as the date approaches. Once parking deck repairs begin, we expect the deck to be closed for approximately two weeks.

Blowing Rock School Fall Fest

Tomorrow from 11:00am-3:00pm

The Blowing Rock School Fall Festival is a fun time to come together and celebrate the season. This is the school's flagship fundraiser, with every dollar raised going towards supporting Blowing Rock teachers, staff and families. Join us at Blowing Rock School (165 Morris Street) from 11:00am to 3:00pm to bid on the silent auction, grab a great meal from local restaurants or buy something special from a local vendor.

Final Art in the Park: Tomorrow

The final Art in the Park of the season is tomorrow from 10:00am-4:00pm! With Art in the Park tomorrow, no parking is permitted on Park Avenue after midnight tonight.

Art in the Park is a unique outdoor museum style experience with a curated selection of regional artists, offering a wide variety of mediums for both experiencing and purchasing. Art in the Park admission is free and there is a free shuttle service to and from Main Street (park for pick up at Shoppes on the Parkway). No thru-traffic and no parking permitted on Park Avenue during the event as well.

Cleanup Week is Next Week

Monday through Friday next week is Cleanup Week. Public Works crews will be picking up items such as old white goods, mattresses, box springs, furniture, grills and paint cans (paint in cans must be dry or have cat litter added to absorb the paint). Do not block any ditches or drains when placing your items outside for pickup.

Yard debris (leaves, tree branches) will continue to be picked up on normal zone schedules. If you are unsure of your zone, the schedules are available on the Town website here or give us a call at 828-295-5200.

We are not able to pick up construction items, propane tanks, electronics, roof shingles, tires or pallets.

There is no need to have your name put on a list: we’ll pick items up all week!
