Dear Faculty and Staff,

The last 18 months have been a challenge for Kansas City University and for our nation as we have navigated the COVID-19 pandemic. Our university has come together as a community and done an excellent job of keeping our doors open, our students educated and our campuses safe, and I thank each of you for your efforts.

The COVID-19 vaccination has become an essential tool for ensuring the continued health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. Currently, 94 percent of our full-time faculty and staff are now fully vaccinated. KCU is committed to protecting the members of our campus community and will be putting into place a formalized vaccination policy for all employees.

In accordance with Federal recommendations and guidelines, KCU’s actions are consistent with some of the leading universities, health systems and major corporations, and in keeping with our mission of “improving the well-being of communities we serve.”

As of November 29, 2021:

  • All full-time employees will be required to be fully vaccinated or present evidence on a weekly basis that they have tested negative for COVID-19.

  • All part-time employees must be fully vaccinated.

  • All new part-time and full-time employees who begin employment after Nov. 29 must be fully vaccinated.

Additional details of the KCU COVID-19 vaccination policy for employees will follow from Human Resources. If you have any questions about the policy, please email HR@kansascity.edu.

Our students are the reason we are all here; they want to be on campus and believe this is one of the safest environments in the region. KCU remains dedicated to our students, committed to keeping the university open and providing a safe environment for all members of our campus community.

Stay safe, and for those I have not seen recently, I look forward to catching up when we are all back on campus October 4.

Yours truly,
Marc B. Hahn, DO
President and Chief Executive Officer
