September 2021
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear NAWBO Family,

We are powering through the pandemic and getting more and more used to the “new normal." Summer is now officially over, and we are excited to be back as our events ramp up. Starting in October and November, we are planning to host some of the connect and networking sessions in person and we are currently securing dates and venues. Keep an eye out for the weekly eblasts.

We have also partnered with the National Appointments Project as the City of San Francisco is seeking to increase the number of women and women of color serving on their Boards and Commissions. The Civic boards and commissions make decisions about a wide range of issues like roads, water, and zoning to public health and elections. If interested, please reach out to us and we would be happy to put you in contact with the organization.

Lastly, we are hosting our Members-Only Town Hall meeting on September 22nd. At this meeting, we want to hear your ideas about what programming you would like to see for 2022. We will be collecting information about who is interested to be more involved with our chapter, whether joining the SFBA board or just volunteering during upcoming event. We will also be sharing our upcoming plans and programming.

I look forward to sharing more updates with you and to seeing many of you at our next Chapter Connect session. Stay safe and healthy.

Yours Truly,
Nooshin Behroyan

Would you like to meet other like-minded women business owners and learn best practices to help you and your business thrive?

Would you like to meet in more intimate group settings, with an opportunity for discussion and connection?

This event is open to all women business owners, so please invite other women you know!
Since 2005, Hilda Kennedy, founder of AmPac Business Capital, has been providing access to capital for businesses at all stages of growth. As a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Small Business Administration (SBA) micro lender, AmPac has provided more than half a BILLION dollars in the last 16 years, serving numerous small businesses with PPP loans and grants during the pandemic.

Hilda was named NAWBO California 2021 Propel Woman Business Owner of the Year. She is a leader dedicated to continual personal and professional growth. A graduate of UC Berkeley, she completed the Goldman Sach’s CEO Cohort in Long Beach and the Wells Fargo Academy for nonprofit leaders. Hilda has also completed master’s coursework with the University of San Francisco. She has been honored with many recognitions including being selected Woman of the Year by U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu.

Please join us on NOVEMBER 11TH for this timely and important discussion. For the first 30 minutes, you will meet Hilda Kennedy and learn about her journey from Chief of Staff of the City of Inglewood Mayor’s Office to the White House where she served underserved communities as part of the SBA Council.

For the second 30 minutes, Hilda will discuss how businesses could secure funding from SBA sources.
