Dear Chamber Members,

I wanted to let you know that I will be out of the office June 1–5 while attending my third year of Institute for Organization Management (IOM) training in Wisconsin.

During this time, I will have limited access and availability to respond to emails and messages.

If you need immediate assistance, please reach out to our Program Director, Trinity Smith, who will be happy to help you.

If your matter can wait until my return, please feel free to email me at mhuntsman@huntingdonchamber.com, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. You may also call the Chamber office and leave a voicemail, which is sent directly to my email, and I will follow up as soon as I can.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while I continue this professional development opportunity to better serve our Chamber and members.

Sincerely,

Trump Signs Small-Business Capital Bill Into Law

Melina Druga, Pennsylvania Business Report

May 26, 2026

President Donald Trump recently signed into law legislation introduced by U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA) that increases the capital available to small businesses. “This legislation will drive further investment into the hands of small businesses in crucial sectors of the economy and areas that are often overlooked without any additional burden on American taxpayers," Meuser said. "I’m pleased that we’ve secured this important bipartisan victory for America’s small business owners, and I’m grateful to my colleagues and President Trump for helping us invest in the communities that need it most.” The Investing in All of America Act increases the capital available through Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs). The companies raise private capital that is matched by the Small Business Administration. The law restores an inflation adjustment for SBIC leverage limits and allows investments in rural and low-income areas, manufacturing, and critical technologies to be excluded from SBIC’s leverage cap. In the United States, 99 percent of manufacturers are classified as small businesses. The act passed both chambers of Congress unanimously.

Celebrate Huntingdon County Night at PNG Field!

Join us on Saturday, August 15 at 6:00 PM as the Altoona Curve take on the Akron RubberDucks during a special Huntingdon County Community Night benefiting the Huntingdon County United Way! This exciting evening will bring our community together for baseball, fireworks, and a chance to showcase the pride and spirit of Huntingdon County.

We know it’s also the final evening of the Huntingdon County Fair, but we hope families, friends, neighbors, and co-workers will still be able to make the trip to PNG Field to enjoy a fun summer night together while supporting a great cause. Whether you attend with your business team, your family, or a group of friends, this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our county and give back to the United Way programs that make a difference throughout our communities.

Businesses and individuals alike are encouraged to support the event through sponsorships or ticket purchases. Every donation helps strengthen local programs and services that benefit Huntingdon County residents year-round.

Let’s pack the stands, celebrate Huntingdon County, and make it a night to remember!

New Data Show Where PA Will Face Biggest Worker Shortages

Bethany Rodgers, Erie Times-News

May 23, 2026

Pennsylvania will face an acute shortage of educators and healthcare workers across all regions of the commonwealth in the next decade, according to credential gap data newly published by the state. The information appears in a dashboard rolled out May 20 by the Pennsylvania State Board of Higher Education to increase transparency around the commonwealth’s postsecondary education pipeline and workforce needs. “By providing a one-stop shop for this information, the board is for the first time providing the kind of concrete, common-sense information we need to celebrate our contributions and further support our colleges and universities as engines of economic prosperity,” Cynthia Shapira, who chairs the state board, said in a prepared statement. The dashboard presents information on student enrollment trends, the cost of higher education, graduation rates and workforce demand. The data suggests the Keystone State will be short by more than 39,000 credentialed healthcare and human services employees in 10 years, according to the estimates.

ATTENTION GOLFERS!

It’s back… and it’s bringing the heat (and the humor)!

The Bonney Forge Corp & Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament is once again hosting our Best Dressed Competition—and this year’s theme is:

BEACH VIBES ON THE FAIRWAY!

We all know this tournament usually lands on one of the hottest days of the year, so why not lean into it? Break out your loudest Hawaiian shirts, brightest swim trunks, flamingo hats, flip-flop flair, and anything that screams “paradise on the green.”

  • The more creative, the better.
  • The bolder, the funnier, the more over-the-top… the higher your chances!
  • Grand Prize: $100 Sheetz Gift Card

So plan your look, and bring the sunshine to the course—because style counts almost as much as your swing this year!

See you on the fairway… beach style!

We are gearing up for the 2026 Golf Tournament on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and we’re inviting our members to help make the event even more memorable for our golfers.

We are currently seeking promotional swag items, giveaways, coupons, gift certificates, and branded merchandise to include in our golfer gift bags. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business directly to tournament participants while supporting one of our community’s premier networking events.

We will need 84 items to ensure every golfer receives a gift bag item.

Popular swag ideas include:

  • Pens, koozies, tumblers, towels, or golf accessories
  • Coupons or promotional vouchers
  • Gift cards or certificates
  • Snacks, beverages, or small branded items
  • Company promotional materials or giveaways

If donating enough items for every golfer isn’t possible, businesses are also welcome to contribute a door prize item instead. Door prizes are a great way to gain visibility during the tournament while helping add excitement to the event.

If your business would like to contribute, please contact the Chamber office for donation details and drop-off information. Thank you for helping us create a fun and successful tournament experience for all participants!

We are currently seeking volunteers to help make the 2026 Golf Tournament a successful and enjoyable event for all participants.

The tournament will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Huntingdon Country Club, and it takes many helping hands to keep the day running smoothly.

Whether you’re a golf enthusiast or simply looking for a fun way to support the Chamber and connect with the community, we’d love to have you involved.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Registration assistance
  • Selling raffle and contest tickets
  • Hole-in-one witnessing
  • Putting contest support
  • Games and activities on the course
  • Snack and beverage cart assistance
  • Event wrap-up crew
  • General event support wherever needed

No golf experience is necessary — just a willingness to help and have fun! Volunteers are a vital part of the tournament’s success, and we truly appreciate the time and support of our community members.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete the volunteer form and return it to MacKenzie at mhuntsman@huntingdonchamber.com. Thank you for helping us make the 2026 Golf Tournament another outstanding community event!

Did you know........

Small businesses represent the largest segment by number of most local chamber membership rolls. Results in the research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street indicate the impact of local chamber membership on small businesses is very powerful. If a consumer knows a small business is a member of its local chamber, the business enjoys a 44 percent increase in its consumer favorability rating, a 51 percent increase in consumer awareness, a 57 percent increase in its local reputation and a 63 percent increase in the likelihood that consumers will patronize the business in the future.

Research indicates that chamber membership stimulates business-to-business commerce in the local community. Other businesses in town are more likely to do business with you and your company if you are a member of the local chamber. Because a major part of a small business typically comes from business-to-business services, it is essential to maintain a positive standing within the local business community.
