This is a reminder to the Profession that the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta is organizing a group bar call for students being called to the bar in Edmonton and Calgary this summer. The group bar call does not replace individual bar calls which will continue to be available to students, but it provides a great alternative for students who may not wish to have an individual bar call or who may prefer being called alongside some of their peers.

Chief Justice Moreau will preside over the ceremony in Edmonton on July 26, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. and Associate Chief Justice Rooke will preside over the ceremony in Calgary on August 9, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Representatives from the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the local Bar Associations will be present to provide remarks welcoming the new members to the profession.

I encourage anyone who is interested in participating in the group bar call to sign up soon. The deadline for applicants has been extended to May 31, 2019. To reserve your spot in the group bar call in either Edmonton or Calgary, please contact Krystle Fuller by telephone at 780-422-2319 or by email at Krystle.fuller@albertacourts.ca.

Students participating in the group bar call must comply with the Law Society of Alberta’s application requirements and deadlines. Please see the Law Society’s website for information regarding admission requirements.
